Yield and Phytochemical evaluation of Apamarga (Achyranthes aspera L.)
Description: Achyranthes aspera is a wasteland herb found everywhere and it mainly grows in the rainy season and it need lots of water. It is a rapid growing weed. Mainly used in dog bite, snake bite, in reducing weight. It is pungent, antiphlegmatic, antiperiodic, diuretic, purgative and laxative, useful in oedema, dropsy and piles, boils and eruptions of skin etc. It is also very useful for asthma patience. The main phytochemical constitute present in it are, glycosides, carbohydrate, Achyranthine, flavonoids, and terpenoids
The powder of aerial parts of Achyranthes aspera was screened for pharmacognostic character. This powder was also processed for determination of qualitative and quantitative of some phytochemical constituent’s pharmacognostical studies. Physicochemical constants such as total ash, Acid insoluble and water soluble content were determined. The growth parameter of the Achyranthes aspera was determined through the germination of seed in field soil. The length and the yield of the plant were determined.
