Strategic and financial planning
• Responsible for generating new business and organic growth of existing clients.
• Managing and maintaining existing clients.
• Representing the company at EXCO level, providing input on Board reports (based on the clients I manage)
• Help develop and maintain effective business systems, policies and procedures that enable business goals to be achieved effectively.
• Ensure that the necessary infrastructure and support is in place to enable the teams to meet the company’s goals.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF | MIKATEKO MEDIA
Operational and creative
• Driving the editorial vision, brand strategy and communication needs of each client.
• Overseeing all editorial processes and working closely with the Creative Director and Production Manager.
• Regular client liaison to ensure their strategic, brand and communication objectives are being met.
• Preparing and presenting pitches and new business proposals to existing and potential clients.
• Responsible for managing the editorial budgets per product.
• Meeting team / product financial targets.
• Responsible for meeting individual and team deadlines.
• Chair planning and review meetings with clients and the editorial and design team.
Quality control
• Responsible for quality control of all products from copy through to visual, including digital.
• Sign off on colour proofs prior to print, and sign off on final copy and design.
Editorial
• Providing strategic direction on print and digital products for each client.
• Strategy and content generation for social media and internal client campaigns.
• Writing news and feature articles across publications, including copy for web, poster campaigns, emailers.
• Subbing and proofreading copy as and when required.
SENIOR EDITOR | 3S MEDIA
Editorial: print and digital
• Research, write and compile content for business, trade and technical, and finance publications.
• Compile editorial lists in line with each client’s strategy and communication objectives.
• Source images to accompany features and articles.
• Conduct interviews with high-profile people in the corporate and government sectors.
• Copywrite and compile marketing material for advertisers.
• Simplify technical articles for publishing.
• Compile paginations/flat plans for magazine layout.
• Compile weekly electronic newsletters.
• Manage and update the Wordpress site for the company’s infrastructure brands.
• Rewrite copy (where applicable) in line with the publication tone and style, as per the style guides.
• Managing production, design and travel budgets.
• Mentor and train new journalists.
• Briefing and managing contributing writers.
Quality control
• Work closely with the designer to ensure layout is clean, accurate and appealing, and in keeping with the look and feel of each publication and associated digital product.
• Proofread copy after design; providing pull quotes, facts and statistics where required.
• Check colour proofs and signing off on final copy before print.
Marketing
• Attend events; marketing and representing the company and clients’ brands.
• Develop communication solutions for clients through the merger of print and digital products.
• Work with the marketing department to organise events such as breakfasts, conferences and awards lunches.
• Identify speaker topics and themes for these events.
• Create publicity around these events.
Sales
• Providing input during sales, revenue and budget meetings.
• Assisting sales team with managing advertisers’ accounts; ensuring clients receive ROI while maintaining editorial integrity.
• Client service.
• Work closely with the sales teams to ensure advertising targets are achieved.
• Develop and brainstorm creative sales and editorial angles to attract advertising.
COPY EDITOR | TABLOID MEDIA
• Edit text (from other writers) for five publications distributed region-wide.
• Generate stories and verify sources.
• Edit, proofread and finalise copy and headlines.
• Active involvement in the start to finish production process.
• Working with design on page layout, text allocation and final design approval.
• Assist journalists with story leads.
• Write articles and features.
• Write and edit advertorials.
• Localise national content for community consumption.
• Check the final product before print.
• Represent the company at media events.
JOURNALIST / SUB-EDITOR | CAXTON MEDIA GROUP
