I currently teach EFL classes to a range of young learners from six years old to seventeen years old. These students have a range of levels from beginner to advanced. My lessons are based on a primarily communicative language teaching method, putting into practice the methods and skills I have spent a year learning and doing research about during my master's degree in TESOL from the University of Edinburgh.

June 2008 - May 2010

For two years, I taught on a range of programs with Vaughan Systems. This language training company is predominantly focused on developing the English language skills of business professionals, thus I gained substantial experience teaching business English during this time. Nevertheless, I also had the opportunity to teach young learners and university students, as well as general English classes to students with a range of ages and levels.
Vaughan Systems promotes a primarily audio-lingual methodology of teaching; therefore my lessons were largely focused on oral production and drilling with a large percentage of the lesson aimed at language accuracy.

This was my first experience as an EFL teacher after graduating from university in May 2007. I began teaching general English classes to young learners and adults in-house, at the academy. I also taught business English classes to employees at a large multi-national company.

Master's degree, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

United Kingdom

I graduated in the top 3% of my MSc TESOL class. I received 86% (the highest grade in the class) on the final assignment for one of the core master's degree classes, TESOL Methodology; my assignment consisted of a communicative language teaching lesson plan and materials. I was one of five members of the Student-Staff Liaison Committee. We were responsible for meeting with staff and voicing any concerns that our peers in the master's program had. We were nominated for these positions by the student body. My final dissertation was a case study of teacher education and reflective practice. I am TEFL-Qualified (DELTA equivalent, British Council accredited course). I have a portfolio of five observed lessons, including lesson plans and materials that give an indication of my strengths as an EFL teacher, as observed by two professors from the University of Edinburgh.
