To provide a standard service of instruments cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing uses of different sterilizing machines, kept clean and tidy all equipment’s is appropriately maintained according to manufacturer recommendation & department al policies and procedures. And maintaining good professional relationship with other health care professional.
Functions:
Pick up/receive, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, according to departmental and international standards.
Responsible for packing of instruments /items like operating the heat sealers, double & single sealing of paper and plastic pouch, composites wrapping of instruments trays, use of internal chemicals indicators, lubricating of instruments, applying sharp instruments protection, setting of composites trays.
Ensure CSSD work area kept clean and tidy and that all equipment is appropriately maintained according to manufacturer recommendation and departmental policies and procedures.
Operation of steam and gas sterilizers, bowie &dick test, biological spore testing, leak test, monitoring of sterilization parameters.
Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actually involved in updating and continuing education.
Follows the reporting mechanisms in the Nursing Department. Ensuring problems which impact of the nursing division, issues are correctly and quickly reported. These include all patients care issues.
Complies with established nursing division policies and procedures.
Attends and participates in ward/ unit meetings and other QI managerial activities as assigned.
Will take responsibility for the ward/ unit in the absence of the any other staff as assigned.
Demonstrate an awareness of fire/ equipment hazards and the necessary precautions to be activated as per hospital policy.
1. Responsibility for cleaning and packing of all instruments and equipment required for use by operating suite and wards & maintaining such instrumentation and equipment according to manufacturer recommendation / guideline and sterilization of instrumentation and validation of autoclaves when assessed as competent.
2. Decontamination of soiled instruments and equipment’s return to CSSD
From nursing units, operation theaters.
3. Wraps and prepares tray, instruments and supplies prior to sterilization, utilizing appropriate quality control and labeling system.
4. Knowledge of proper methods of sterilization including, loading and running of autoclave.
5. machine inventory of supplies, stocks and rotates stored supplies per requisition and records changes.
6. Inventories and stock exchange carts and delivers carts to appropriate nursing unit.
