I was assigned to manage risk return analysis pilot project. In March 2015, Hubbard Decision Research (HDR), the Sustainable Urban Rehabilitation Program (SURP) team in Haiti, and the Sustainable Project Management Practice Group (SPMPG) commenced a pilot application of the Applied Information Economics (AIE) methodology. The pilot application focused on calculating a Net Present Value of different efforts within the SURP program in Haiti: these included the construction of a new main road, the construction of a school, small business loans and support, a water and sanitation project, and house construction all within the neighborhood of Fort National in Port-au-Prince.

Applied Information Economics (AIE) is a synthesis of techniques from economics, actuarial science, and other mathematical methods. In addition to these more familiar fields, AIE includes Decision Theory - the formulation of decisions into a mathematical framework; and Information Theory - the mathematical modeling of transmitting and receiving information. AIE employs methods that are substantiated by a large body of peer-reviewed academic research and empirical evidence on improving human expert judgments
