Supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, patient,
instruments, and materials. Performs procedures in compliance with the
Dental Practice Act.
▪ Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures
andprotocols. Perform daily operational checks of dental unit and
equipment, report unserviceableequipment, supplies, or utilities to
property custodian.
▪ Protect areas from blood, saliva, and Other Potentially Infectious
Materials (OPIM) byplacing barriers like Light handles, X-ray tube heads,
amalgamator, etc.
▪ Disinfect surfaces between patients when the integrity of the physical
barriers hasbeen compromised. Apply intermediate-level disinfectant
(wipes or spray) to potentially contaminatedarea(s); ensure compliance
with manufacturer’s recommended contact time.
▪ Fill sharps container to no more than capacity limit indicated by sharps
container.Following instrument decontamination/cleaning phase, don full
PPE (e.g., hair cover, puncture/chemical-Resistant gloves, gown, gloves,
goggles and mask).
▪ Visually inspect instruments for debris/bio burden, verify instruments are
sharp and inworking order.
▪ Following assembly of paper-plastic peel-pack/specialized/solid rigid
container andwrapping of kits, proceed to labelling each item.
▪ Begin daily testing of sterilization equipment. Once sterilizer is ready for
use, runBowie-Dick test. After completion of the air-removal warm-up
cycle, place Bowie- Dick, test strip up, in empty steam sterilizer chamber
directly over the sterilizer drain. Opening. Run Bowie-Dick test cycle.
