• Hand in hand with the head nurse, nurse manager of the unit and promotes safe and effective patients care practices
• Participates actively in the provision of quality patients care
• Attends and supervises daily doctors rounds and also follows administrators rounds
• Responsible in checking records concerning patients condition, reports to head nurse, nursing supervisor and documents problem encountered in the unit.
• Assist in the unit orientation of the new nurse practitioners, interns and trainees
• Demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability in collaborating with other members of health care team to establish and achieve patient goals by the utilization of appropriate interpersonal skills whn collaborating with interdisciplinary team members
• Helps the head nurse in the assessment of nursing needs of the patient based on the information obtained from the members of the healthcare team
• Participates in the development and implementation of educational activities
• Serves as a role model for staff and assumes responsibility of the head nurse in the absence of the latter
• Follows and implement department and hospital related policies and procedures
• Leads endorsement rounds
• Responsible for safekeeping of narcotic cabinet key
• Manager and takes direct, appropriate action in emergencies

• Direct supervision of clients under my care from admission until discharge
• Carry out physician's order for the care of clients and his/her personal management.
• Gives direct nursing care.
• Identifies nursing needs of the patient
• Plans, gives and evaluate nursing care
• Admit patients
• Perform activities such as doing morning care and oral hygiene
• Assist patients in moving, maintaining proper alignment of patient's body and utilizing good body mechanics.
• Takes and records vital signs
• Observe medical sepsis
• Observe signs and symptoms, institutes remedial action when appropriate and record these on charts.
• Report observation to the physician.
• Observe and respond to patient's need.
• Acts as a liaison between patient's and hospital personnel
• Interprets to the patient and his family their roles in promoting successful therapy and rehabilitation.
• Prepares patient for, and assists physicians with, diagnostics and therapeutic procedures.
• Assist physician in examining patients.
• Performs irrigation, catheterization and gives enemas.
• Administers and charts medications and patients reaction to medications be it oral or parenteral route of administration.
• Instruct patients and families as needed.
• Sees to it that equipment receive proper care and maintenance.
• Discharge patients.
• Perform postmortem care.
• Teaches and directs non-professional using personnel
• Acts as senior nurse when so delegated.
• Receives and endorses ward equipment and supplies.
