* Performing risk assessments of each area of company activity and making
recommendation on actions to be taken to reduce risks.
* Ensuring that procedures are being adhered to by carrying out audits,
spot checks and reviews.
* Defining procedures to meet the demands of job specific hazards.
* Leading the investigation of any near-miss, accidents or incidents and
making recommendations on modified procedures to avoid recurrences.
* Co-ordination and provision of safety training and safety induction to all
staff.
* Advising project Supervisor(s) and Manager(s) on the implementation of
safety procedures.
* Ensuring that all necessary statutory and other records are maintained.
* Developing within the establishment an atmosphere of “safety
consciousness” by example, by discussion, by advice and training.
* Informing all members of the establishment of the status, requirements
and codes of practice for safe-working procedures already adopted and
of the provision and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and to
ensure their observance and proper use.
* To arrange for the reporting and investigation of incidents with a view to
further preventive measures or the dissemination of information to others.
* Creating awareness of the hazards associated with the use of radioactive
materials, carcinogens (cancer inducers), toxic chemicals and other
aspects of occupational health hazards and dissemination of this
information.
* Ensuring that all non-routine and potentially hazardous routine jobs are
carried out under Permit To Work System with associated Complimentary
Certificates, and Work Hazard Information System (WHIS) duly followed.
* Carrying out regular Unsafe Act/Condition Audits to quickly identify
hazards at the work site with corrective actions to re-instate facility
integrity to sustain safety, protect the environment and meet the HSE
targets.
* Setting up of documented safety procedures and precautions covering
all aspects of the Company’s activities and system to disseminate these to
all members of staff.
* Ensuring that the procedures are up to date by a continuous review of
new and revised legislation.
* Review the construction plan and specification submitted by the
contractor including manpower and equipment schedules.
* Conduct seminar to the working force regarding the safety, security,
sanitation, project rules and regulation
* Preside regular weekly Health & Safety meeting with Project Engineers,
Supervisors, Foreman, etc
* Daily monitoring on construction Health & Safety program submitted by
the contractor in relation to the time and work schedules
* Attend regular site coordination and progress HSE meeting with HSE
Manager together with the Project consultant
* Evaluate change order that affect Health & Safety by the contractor.
* Submit weekly, monthly HSE report to the HSE Manager.
