• Establish the Finance Department of MBZUAI from the ground up. Recruit high skilled staff members.
• Efficiently manage the Finance Department of MBZUAI in accordance with Government Accounting Standards and Finance Government Authority’s Guidelines.
• Effectively report to the board of directors, the minister and Finance Government Authority the financials, budgets and other related financial concerns.
• Initiate the development of ERP system and the integration of it with Finance Government Authority’s ERP system. Manage the development of other systems such as online banking and student registration system (integrated with AR module in ERP system).
• Create long-term & short-term strategies, policies and procedures of Finance by liaising with Finance Government Authority and MBZUAI’s department managers.
• Liaise between MBZUAI and Finance Government Authority any financial and budgetary requirements.
• Ensure effective spending of budget allocated for the year by establishing periodic reports and having open and regular meetings with departments’ managers.
• Create MBZUAI’s 2021 budget in coordination with the departments’ leaders. Ensure the approved budget is submitted on due date to Finance Government Authority.
• Initiate the registration of MBZUAI under Federal Tax Authority and submit monthly tax reports.
• Assist MBZUAI’s management in developing authority matrix, strategies and review of university’s policies.

Achievements
• Established a functional Finance Department within a spam of less than 6 months regardless of the difficulties faced during 2020 Covid 19 lockdown.
• Presented monthly the financials of MBZUAI to the minister and board of directors and tackled any concerns.
• Achieved creation of the 2021 budget of the newly
established university within the timeframe approved.
• Developed strategies, authority matrix, policies and processes of Finance Department and assisted in reviewing
and enhancing them for other departments.
• Completed the testing phase of the ERP system.
• Implemented online banking.
• Was able to manage efficiently the spending of 2020
budget by understanding other department needs. Achieved results required related to budgetary items after discussions with Finance Department Authority.
• Liaised successfully the registration of the university in Federal Tax Authority and preparation and submission of monthly tax reports.
• Received an appreciation letter from MBZUAI’s management and an email from a member of board of directors for successfully handling financial & budgetary matters during Covid 19 and creating a functional Finance Department within less than 6 months.
