My role is summarized by developing and implementing sourcing strategies for Paper & Board packaging supplies in the Middle East, North & Central Africa region for 12 Unilever factories with total annual spend of EUR 60 Million
Key responsibilities are:
• Exploit the buying power of Unilever by volume concentration strategy, price evaluation & cost structuring, and developing global sources
• Create advantage by product specification optimization, joint process improvement, and suppliers relationship restructuring
This include:
Strategic sourcing activities; aligning global strategies with local activities; supply market intelligence; negotiations & contracting; supplier relationship management; price forecast and market trends analyses; delivery of buying savings
My main role is to develop and manage the forecasts of demand and assure an efficient S&OP process execution by working with the extended cross functional team. This involves taking decisions and influencing decision makers when needed to assure seamless execution of plans inline with the organization financial targets; in addition to managing all local co-packing activities.
• Develop the base demand plan using the most appropriate statistical forecasting algorithm and make adjustments where necessary
• Generate the new product forecast using the historical substitution and like modeling / scenario planning techniques agreed with Marketing and Category Management
• Ensure that the demand planning model fully supports the decision making requirements of the business
• Develop a robust demand planning model that facilitates efficient gathering of market intelligence data at the appropriate level across the customer and product hierarchy
• Manage and mitigate the brands and SKUs forecast biases
• Analyze forecast accuracy and identify and implement process enhancements to improve KPI’s
• Work with Customer Service Leaders to develop scenarios to change the phasing of demand to address supply gaps
• Coach Category, Marketing and Channel/Account Managers on forecasting techniques to improve forecasting accuracy
• Effectively communicate with and engage the Customer on operational issues
• Facilitate the Demand Management element of Sales & Operational Planning process with the extended team and identify key risks & opportunities presenting the rolling plan to the Category team along with Brand Building and Finance.
• Ensure that the appropriate level of focus is given to the short and long term plans in all demand planning activities
Manage Local Co-Packing activities and assure timely execution of local promotions
Attieh Steel is one of the leading steel distributors in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East that has more than 60 outlets and distribution centers, 3 factories, and more than one million square meters of warehousing facilities. Attieh Steel’s major trading and servicing products are industrial and commercial steel, building materials, oil & gas pipes and products and other nonferrous products, with total revenues of SR4.3 billion (USD1.1 billion) in 2008.
• Managed forecasts and orders and ensure they are in line with financial targets.
• Planned and defined Attieh Steel’s supply chains as per SCOR methodology and targeted specific supply chains for gap analysis and performance improvement
• Worked closely with the distribution centers across the middle east to accurately calculate demand and manage stock levels within each market
• Liaised between procurement department and regional directors to assure maintaining economic inventory levels
• Created, targeted and monitored specific inventory management’s KPIs
• Sourced aluminum products (monitored global aluminum prices, prepared and sent RFQs, evaluated, selected and negotiated suppliers, and confirmed and followed up orders)
• Liaised with the ERP business consultants, IT department and procurement and logistics department to identify the supply chain business requirements of the newly acquired Oracle ERP system
• Defined technical requirements and layout design of newly-built warehouses to assure smooth operations and flow of materials
• Assisted in preparing technical project assessments/estimates, resource requirement estimates, and cost/benefit analysis (CAPEX & OPEX) of new warehouses

• Set up and lunched the new operations of the company.
• Managed and controlled all warehouse activities in coordination with ARAMEX to comply with TAPA requirements.
• Trained new operations staff and created training manual.
• Scheduled packing and inventory activities.
• Recruited warehouse staff.
• Monitored customer service activities.
• Liaised with clients regarding on-site operational issues.
• Audited warehouse policies and procedures.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Successfully lunched and started InfoFort’s operations for the first time in Jordan.
Reported directly to the RFID Project Manager
• Investigated, analyzed & re-characterized Rolls Royce reusable containers’ supply chain to facilitate RFID system implementation for tracking and tracing re-usable containers to improve supply chain efficiency.
• Developed a WBS and defined clear tasks of the project, and set a timeframe for the planning process using MS Project.
• Prepared weekly reports on process performance.
• Arranged for meetings and workshops with both Daher Sawley and Rolls Royce.
• Delivered presentations of new solutions and recommendations.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I presented an innovative solution to Rolls Royce PLC. to optimize the number, facilitate flow & eliminate losses of re-usable containers within Rolls Royce Supply Chain by using RFID, which gained the interest of the global logistics and the supply chain reconstruction project departments.
Distinction for dissertation Dissertation title: “An RFID tracking and tracing system to improve supply chain efficiency in aerospace industry with a case study at Rolls Royce aero engines” Modules included: Project Management, Quality Management & Quality Techniques, Supply Chain Planning & Management, Advanced Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Managing Operations & Change, Operations Strategy, Design of Operations Facilities and Systems, Management Science for Decision Support, & Marketing.
