Duties and Responsibilities
1. DELIVERY ROOM NURSE
* Provides care for obstetrics and gynecologic patients.
* Gives maternal and child care in compliance with established techniques and procedures.
* Checks fetal heart tone and blood pressure. Observes interval, quality and duration of uterine contraction.
* Prepares and assists physician during assessment, deliveries and other procedures.
* Observes aseptic techniques and preparing and in performing obstetrical/gynecological procedures.
* Notifies the doctors who will perform the procedures like the OB-Gynecologist, Pediatrician and Anesthesiologist.
* Accomplishes and keeps record of mother and baby taking for particular attention on the time and date of delivery, gender, anthropometric measures and the apgar score of the baby.
2. NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT NURSE
* Provides care for intensive care neonate.
* Closely monitors the patient by checking the vital signs. Do the recording and reporting of all untoward signs and symptoms of patients.
* Checks the accuracy of all the equipments used such as incubator, oxygen, suction machine, etc.
* Transcribes doctor's order and reviews all medical orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
* Observes routine aseptic techniques.
3. EMERGENCY ROOM/OPD NURSE
* Welcomes patient and his family.
* Listens to patient's concerns and provides emotional support when needed.
* Responds to questions about the hospital politely and accurately.
* Gathers information/data when needed. Respects and protects the confidentiality of such information.
* Supervises, directs and administers nursing activities.
* Takes initial nursing assessments such as chief complaint, vital signs, etc. and records it.
* Explains every procedure before performing in order to gain cooperation from the patient itself and from the relatives as well.
* Secures consent for every procedure to be performed.
* In all emergency cases, ensures availability of all emergency equipments and drugs to be used.
* Informs the receiving ward about the admission and endorses all activities performed in the emergency room and some special concerns to be taken.

4. WARD NURSE
* Participates in the monitoring and evaluating client care.
* Sees to it that clients safety remains the major considerations in their care
* Receives endorsement from outgoing Staff Nurse.
* Supervises the activities of nursing aides, orderlies, ward clerks and janitors.
* Keeps in contact with the doctors and other hospital staffs on the smooth care of clients.
* Helps clients who are undergoing medical treatment or surgical intervention.
* Gives step by step instructions for accurately performing basic nursing procedures especially to elderly clients.
* Establishes care plans for common conditions to shorten length of stay of clients without sacrificing quality of care.
* Develops and puts into working positive updated discharge planning specific for each client condition and family needs.
* Attends in service training to upgrade nursing skills.
* Records and reports pertinent observations and keep consultant well informed.
5. INFANT ROOM HEAD NURSE
* Assess infants condition upon arrival
* Facilitate and supervise all the activities intended for the infants
* Establish rapport with the infants as well as the parents
* Plan and facilitate infants care
* Designate specific duties and responsibilities of the staffs
* Observes safety and maintain healthy environment conducive to learning
* Facilitate the function of a main teacher for the infants
