This position involves teaching 1 to 1 English classes as well as group classes to adult learners. The 1 to 1 tutorials focus on multiple subjects including: business, administration, marketing, conversation and other university and employment based topics. In these classes our main aim is on the learners’ areas of difficulty whether it is grammar, speaking, writing and listening. Meanwhile, the group classes are strictly conversation and current affairs classes.

Working through a European funded project to provide English support to the teachers and students of a state run elementary and middle school. The position involved creating interactive and collaborative activities using English for grades 1 to 8. I offered support to non-native English teachers in regards to lesson planning, grammar, pronunciation and student Euro-exam preparation. I was also the head coach of the middle school’s soccer team. This involved planning training sessions and preparing for matches; as well as being responsible for 18 students’ well-being. In the winter months I was also an assistant coach with the boys’ basketball team.

In this position I tutored students one to one in classroom subjects they found difficult. I also assisted the classroom teacher by working with students who needed extra help in the class subject whether it was maths, English, social studies or vocational courses. During this time I also supported students who had learning difficulties and/or physical difficulties in participating in full time education and in extracurricular activities.

During my time at Percy Shurmer I worked with children from first to sixth grade. My duties included assisting the classroom teacher throughout the day with the classroom subjects and in preparation for the lessons. I also participated in class trips assisting the teachers in supervising the classes.

I provided engaging and stimulating English classes to students aged 7 to 17 years old in an after-school language institute. Classes included phonics, reading, listening, speaking and writing. The level of the students ranged from almost beginners to returnee students who had lived abroad to study. Lessons for the more advanced students involved preparing for their university entrance exams and entrance to foreign high schools or colleges. Grading essays and spoken presentations were regular components of the role, as well as creating supporting material to enhance the lessons.

During this time I taught English at an English kindergarten and elementary school to an array of students from 5-12. Due to the young age of the students I created lessons that were active and engaging to help the students to learn English in a relaxed environment. I supervised field trips once a month as well as participated in parent-teacher conferences and open classes.
