Cardiopulmonary Science (CPS), also commonly called as Respiratory Therapy, is a very significant allied healthcare profession, concerned with diagnosis, treatment, management, preventive care, and rehabilitation of patients with diverse cardiopulmonary abnormalities (such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and coronary heart diseases). This course prepares students for working dexterously and efficiently under respiratory therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in the critical care unit, emergency room, newborn nursery, outpatient clinic and critical care transport. These respiratory therapy technicians or assistants are inherently concerned with operation, management, and maintenance of diagnostic and life support systems, monitoring devices, timely medications, and supporting comprehensively the respiratory therapists during treatment.
