The study is aimed at understanding a scenario of the biogeochemical fluxes, tidal characteristics and nutrient variations in Pulicat lagoon system during different seasons and the decadal variations in lagoon morphology. The studies have been carried out through field collection of data on nutrients and water currents. Spatial and temporal variations in morphology were demarcated from satellite data. The nutrients were analyzed in view of tidal influence and river discharges using LOICZ, ASSETS and MIKE 21 models. Taking into account the complexity in the nutrients availability and morphological variations, suggestions are put forward for an Integrated Management framework for Pulicat lagoon.
