I am currently working in shifts, assisting and contributing in the handling/processing of:
Average number of flights per shift 107
Total number of shipments per year 223, 200
Hard Cargo tonnage processed 116, 720 tons/annum
Mail 2, 700 tons/annum
Courier 3, 900 tons/annum
We have been named the cargo carrier of the year for a 4 year running now.
i have also been involved in the training of new staffs recruited as junior assistants, most of whom are now in the position of cargo handlers.
JOB PURPOSE
• To liaise with and communicate with the appropriate section heads/responsible Ground handling teams, Cargo Handling Agents and Regulatory Authorities on the planned requirements in respect of the handling and documentation of import, export and transfer Cargo, Mail and Express products.
• To monitor the acceptance, handling and delivery of import, export and transfer cargo products and associated documentation and ensure adherence to policies and procedures and facilitate optimum operational efficiency, service and product quality standards.
• Encode warehouse and local invoices
• Check and reconcile invoices
• Price checking and updating international barcode of items not scanned in the system.
• Confirm with the Central Buyer if there are changes in the cost of items.
• Co-ordinate with the Accounts team and Storekeeper regarding invoicing errors.
Other Duties:
• Clearing of urgent goods at the airport.
• Validating incoming stock.
• Counter checking delivered goods as consigned.
• Liaising with Freight Handlers in regard to delivery of goods and clearance.
