Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures (e.g. Implant Surgery, Cosmetic Procedure, Orthodontics procedures, Oral Surgery, Pediatrics Dentistry, and Periodontal Surgery.)
Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays).
Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse.
Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment.
Preparing instruments and clinic for surgery.
Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
Assists in the conduct of health education;
Assists other health team providers in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both normal and specialized treatment case;
Provides nursing care services such as assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation;
Coordinates with other health team providers in the provision of health care services;
Assists in the establishment of models for data collecting and documentation system.
Assisting doctors in handling deliveries.
Provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery.
Assessing patient's physiological and psychological status before, during, and after surgery.
Functioning as a patient advocate by protecting the patient from incompetent, unethical, or illegal practices during the peri-operative period.
Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of aseptic principles and techniques to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment.
Directing or assisting with the care and handling, preparing of all supplies, equipment, and instruments; ensures the stock of supplies are maintained in their economic and efficient function for the patient and personnel.
Record patient’s medical information and vital signs, fetal heart tones and monitoring progress of labor.
Giving patient’s medications depending on needs and condition, until post operatively according to doctor’s order.
Provides additional support, be it emotional or physical. Provide prenatal and postpartum care and treatment under obstetrician’s supervision.
Work with doctors to ensure a safe delivery, teach childbirth techniques and help the mother to nurse post-delivery.
