• Led & motivated a team of 5 to transport 18, 000 container assets per week to more than 200 demand global locations.
• In-charge of budget & cost control for supply/logistics and distribution ($270m/annual).
• Responsible for container turnaround efficiency to meet forecasted export cargo volumes of 3.2m TEUS annually.
• Supply chain management: Established the 'ideal equipment level' benchmark (1.8 weeks stock versus weekly exports) for each agency/location to reach 'optimal' equipment availability eliminating excess storage costs (port terminal and depot storage costs at $12m annual). Evaluated agents' cargo requirements versus actual exports/imports performance to determine what volume and what container types are best to be kept on the ground vs. loading out/in.
• Equipment Utilization Management: Provided input to commercial trade management departments on container statuses identifying over-dues, long idle equipment in full and empty statuses, system stock discrepancies & steering inefficiencies. Decided on which assets must be written off.
• Reviewed budget vs. forecast vs. actual cargo performance i.e. Recognizing variances in cargo flows & identifying opportunities for supply chain improvement & new route development. Devised logistical tools to best reduce transshipments, restows, storage, haulage and handling by encouraging container sublease and swaps and identifying free storage opportunities.
• Compliance Management: Ensured adherence & compliance to predefined budget space allocations on United Arab Shipping vessels in close liaison with capacity control for 167 global agents in coordination with Regional Trade Management Units, Yield Management, Vessel Operations, Corporate Marketing, Container Management & Logistics, and IT to ensure steering is optimized.
