I work as a team leader in the Judicial Review Team for 11 members of staff, My main duties are to overall manage the team but I also have to make sure I deal with all incoming work and allocate it accordingly so it is dealt with in accordance to deadlines. I also

involves a substantial amount of delegating and chairing meeting with my team and external stakeholders, good communication is key to my role. Future planning is a high priority in terms of predicting peak periods in courts and adjusting staffing levels
accordingly

Here I worked in the Asylum Department as an Executive Officer dealing with Asylum claims and making decisions on individual cases. This job mostly involves casework and case management. My daily tasks involve making decisions such as Refusal or Grant.
This involves drafting refusal letters and completing the administrative work on file before sending the files of to the next location. Each case has a different time scale depending on how complex or simple the case is. My duties also involve calling applicants in for an interview if further information is needed to reach a decision. I am also involved in the interview process of applicants; this is required when there is not enough information on file therefore an interview needs to be conducted in order to reach a decision. This post involves working under tight deadlines and concluding backlog cases. I was also temporarily managing the team at times dealing with incoming and outgoing work and daily team building and productivity of the team.

This includes providing word processing support, which involves the typing of reports, minutes, letters and memos, maintaining the filing system both hard-copy and electronically; photocopying, scanning and faxing of material and ordering of stationery items; answering telephones; recording of messages and responding to urgent problems received by telephone, fax or email, as appropriate; raising purchase orders and spreadsheet and database maintenance. This position taught me how to work well under pressure.
