As incharge of Hangar Equipment Maintenance Department, ensured a very high serviceability rate of the Equipment. Within a month of working in the department, drafted an elaborate Maintenance Organization Exposition and instituted a system whereby all the equipment required during aircraft maintennace is kept at a high state of readiness.
While managing and supervising the entire maintenance and logistic activities of a setup involved in overhauling specialist MT Vehicles, Powered AGE and its engines, attained a high level of production and turn over of assets through the Unit. Made concerted efforts to modernize the Unit’s engineering facilities thus significantly improved the quality of production. Conducted Seminars on Drivers Safeties and prepared documentary movies on MT Accidents Prevention and Aircraft FOD Prevention. As a part of secondary duties, carried out numerous Board of Inquiries of general nature and put forward true findings.
As Director of Maintenance of a Unit maintaining 40 Mirage and F-7 aircrafts and comprising 600 men, ensured a perfect harmony amongst the work force to achieve optimum output. Closely supervised the Propulsion Maintenance Shop involved in EFM of Atar Engines and WP-7 engines. With pre-emptive actions, attained a high level of aircraft serviceability and reliability, achieved aircraft accident free record and drastically reduce rejection rate of components and thus maintenance cost. Applying proactive approach, thoroughly analyzed aircraft defects especially serious ones and repeat defects.
While working as Deputy Chief Engineer (Repair and Fabrication Wing) of Propulsion Engine Overhauling Wing, Mirage Rebuild Factory for two years, I was very successfully in maintaining the peak production of the facilities with high quality product. I also enhanced the repair capability of the factory by commissioning new machines such as Seam Welding machine and repairing Electron Beam Welding machine that was unserviceable since long. I also improvised on the repair procedures to reduce the parts rejection rate. A Maintenance Improvement Conference was organized by me so as to communicate with field personnel and thus reduce maintenance related problems and thus the maintenance cost.
As a Staff Officer to Air Officer Commanding (AOC), kept the AOC well aware of the state of entire engineering assets kept with the four Air Forces bases under the command of CAC. Analyzed all the maintenance activities of the bases and determined the weak areas ranging from Aircraft occurrences to MT vehicles breakdowns. Discretely monitored and evaluated as to what extent the Air Headquarters’ policies, directives and instructions were being adhered to, and conducted a number of high powered foreign and national delegates. Significant contributions were the evaluation and analysis of Aircraft Defects especially the duplicated snags and those resulted in serious anomalies.
Carried out very thorough investigations into seven aircraft mishaps of which most of the accidents were related to the failure of Propulsion Systems. Being a person of analytical approach, carried out a very logical and systematic analysis and reached to the root cause of the accidents. The accidents rate of the systems in which I carried out the investigations dropped drastically. As an example the PAF had lost five F-7 aircraft due to tail pipe fire and it was due to my findings into the causes of the accidents and the suggestion of corrective measures that no aircraft had identical mishap since then.
As a technical auditor carried out thorough audits of technical activities of all the PAF bases and highlighted the actual flaws in the systems that were causing deviations from the prescribed procedures. Also drafted many SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) that are being strictly followed in Pakistan Air Force. Also wrote a complete manual that has become most essential document for preparing war plans for maintenance activities of Pakistan Air Force.
While planning, coordinating and directing daily activities including implementing and reinforcing of all administrative procedures, policies and guidelines, ensured smooth and efficient operations and 1st line maintenance activities of F-16 aircraft. I was very successfully in maintaining a very high level of aircraft serviceability and reliability. I also provided leadership, motivation, direction and training to 5 officers and 280 other subordinates. Also directed weekly staff meetings with a focus on achieving increasing
Hallmark of my career had been my in-depth involvement in Organizational and Intermediate Level maintenance of PW-F-100 engines. In fact, I had the privilege of setting up the F-100 Engines ‘I’ level maintenance facility in Pakistan Air Force from almost initial stage. While working on the system for eight years, I ensured a very high state of operational preparedness, and with preventive maintenance ensured that the engines operate optimally. I represented Pakistan Air Force four times in the Component Improvement Program organized by Pratt & Whitney and every time I took active participation in the forum. In recognition of my meritorious service I was awarded with Chief of the Air Staff Commendation Certificate by PAF management and a shield by Pratt & Whitney. During my stay in Mirage Rebuild Factory, I was again involved in the depot level repairs of F-100 engines, over and above overhaul of Atar engines, and F-100 engines up-gradation program.
As officer i/c Accessories Overhaul Shop Supervised/managed the overhauling and testing of all accessories of Chinese WP-6 and American J-65 engines. I was very successful in maintaining the production task to required level with high level of quality.
Have not got the degree as I did not appear in one subject due to primary duties commitments.
