Management of a wide portfolio of clients including:
• Banks, insurance intermediary companies, asset management companies and funds regulated by DFSA including Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda and Bank of India which are also regulated by Reserve Bank of India (RBI);
• Gargash Group as group auditor consisting of 22 subsidiaries in different jurisdictions where few components are audited by other auditors;
• Audit and group reporting of leading commodity trading company, INTL Commodities DMCC, a subsidiary of INTL FCSTONE Inc. a fortune 100 Company;
• Two tiered group reporting to United Kingdom and New Zealand of Nalco Champion Middle East, a subsidiary of ECOLAB, Inc. The Company supplies chemicals and related services to the oil & gas industry in Middle East; and
• Audit and group reporting of Hinduja Bank (Middle East) Limited, a subsidiary of Hinduja Bank Switzerland;
Preparation of audit strategy, executing & finalizing the entire job, understanding internal controls and conducting system reviews;
Review of compliance with DFSA’s regulatory requirements such as capital adequacy, expenditure based minimum capital requirement;
Compilation of consolidated, stand-alone and interim financial statements with full disclosures in accordance with IFRS; and
Communication with client management on audit issues, highlighting control weaknesses and suggesting preventive & corrective measures through management letter.
Ensure timely preparation of financial statements as per IFRS;
Presentation of management accounts to the senior management;
Assisting in the development of interim and annual budgets;
Handling the day to day activities of the department;
Working capital management by overseeing inventory, receivables and payables;
Assisting in the compilation of tax data and preparation of tax returns;
Liaison with banks for various financing facilities.
Coordination with external and internal auditors;
Recommend and maintain a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over the department’s activities;
During my stay with BDO Pakistan, I worked at different levels from Audit Associate to Senior Auditor. I fully utilized this opportunity for gaining experience by way of providing audit, review, assurance & other related services to our valued multinational, local listed and private corporate clients.
Conducted statutory audit and assurance assignments in accordance with the requirements of Firm’s Global Audit Methodology and various pronouncements (including IFRS and ISAs) and directives issued by national and international regulatory bodies, which included planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising the entire job.
Preparation of accounts, analysis of financial statements & issuance of management letters to the clients highlighting weaknesses in controls environment.
Statutory Audits of listed & unlisted companies, banks, hospitals, and large retail networks including Ittehad Chemicals Limited (a listed chemical manufacturing company), United Bank Limited (a listed bank with over 1300 branches across Pakistan), Nokia Global Customer Care (Private) Limited, Dynasel Limited and City schools (Private) Limited;
Audited NGOs including United National Development Program Pakistan (UNDP) and South Asian Free media Association (SAFMA);
Internal Audit assignments of companies including Colgate & Clover Palmolive Pakistan limited (a large FMCG company) and Tritex Cotton Mills Limited; and
Internal Control Review assignments of United Bank Limited and First Women Bank Limited as per State Bank of Pakistan guidelines;
A qualified chartered accountant (ACA) with over seven years of experience in audit, industry and education. My stay with BDO and Crowe Horwath has provided me valuable experience about audit, advisory and financial reporting. My portfolio of clients covers a range of sectors including, but not limited to the regulated financial services, manufacturing, FMCG and NGO’s.
