Optimized radio network performance to desired targets- Drop calls 98%, TCH Utilization >80%. Optimize paging success rate and Location Update failures
o Monitor & analyze the WCDMA Radio Network Statistics on a Daily basis
o Carrying out 3G Drive test and Analyzing the log file to find out problem areas of the network, layer 3 message analysis, sorting out Coverage, Interference, Pilot Pollution, Hand-over problems, Call Drop.
o Regularly Optimize BSCs, worst performing Cells, hotspots and VIP areas
o Tune parameters and Exchange properties of advanced radio features to achieve optimal radio network performance. Features include- HCS, Power control, locating, MAIO management, Overlaid/Under laid cell structures, X-range, Cell Load Sharing, DTX
o Perform Traffic balancing of cells: co-located cells, dual band (900/1800 MHz) cells, and micro and macro cells.
o Perform Drive tests using TEMS Investigation and Neptune for network coverage and quality optimization, detect interference source, sector swaps, incorrect parameters, troubleshooting customer complaint areas
o Dimensioning and Design radio network using Aircom Enterprise ASSET: design BTS and Antenna configuration, perform coverage and Interference predictions.
o Evaluate Candidate sites and carry out site surveys
o Create CDD (Cell Design Data) for new site activation
o Trace external interference sources using Spectrum analyzer
o Automatic Frequency Plan using ILSA
o Monitor network performance and configuration to ensure conformance with KPIs across MTN Operation regions.
o Support the Field support team in the regions with high level network problem solving, technical solutions.
o Support the Special Projects team with technology research and network value added coverage and capacity solutions.
o Responsible for conducting competitor benchmarking tests
• Attend to all BSS Emergencies or outage situations escalated to O&M Support to achieve improved MTTR on the MTN network
• Performing of routine O&M procedures as prescribed for the Power, Transmission and BTS Radio networks
• React to emergency faults and ensure that all faults are rectified promptly within contracted SLA
• Ensure provision of power (requisite quality) to all sites within purview 24 hours a day
• Implement cross connect equipment in the designated area of the MTN Network
• To swiftly diagnose and clear any faults or alarms assigned by trouble ticket or ensure escalation within time period stipulated in SLAs to correct parties if unable to fix. To close or forward all trouble tickets promptly
• Maintain a sound working relationship between the network operations group and all associated parties within the company
• Implement approved software changes as directed with change requests
• Ensure maintenance work undertaken by contractors meets desired specification
• Maintain a comprehensive set of records of all transmission links, BTS sites, power equipment and spares for all sites within my designated area
• Ensure all security and network integrity documentation is completed and adhered to
• Liaise and monitors diesel contractors to ensure on-schedule supply of diesel to sites within purview.
• Provide support to the regions during Integration of new BSS nodes when required on MTN network.
• Provide support to the region during migration of existing BSS nodes from one network element to another.
• Monitoring of radio Network utilization and quality trends across the network and flag off network quality issues to Network Quality department for appropriate action.
• Proffering solutions to repetitive BSS network problems affecting network quality and availability.
• Expert hands on experience in installation, Software debugging operation and maintenance of Motorola BSS equipment, system integration, commissioning and tests
• Experienced and skilled professional with a good fundamental knowledge of installation, operation and maintenance of Transmission equipment
• Provision of “round-the-clock” field support and guidance to all BSS, Tx and Power elements in the area under coverage
• Rectification and identification of potential faults in the BSS network, including Software Faults (SWFM) & those with Hardware functions/devices
• Maintain and improve Network quality of the region by physical quality perception and routine monitoring of Network statistics (from vendor specific tools e.g Self-initiated tasks; capturing network utilization and recommending expansions as necessary
• Liaising and ensuring that factors affecting network outages are successfully managed within the SLA
• Ensuring proper use of tools, spares, tests sets and vehicles to enhance quick response time to fault and improved MTTR
• Ensuring BSS capacity upgrade/downgrade are done to recommended standard and specifications and completed as scheduled
• Optimization of BSS network entities. Maintaining integrity of BSS/MW network
• Liaising with Network Quality unit on local BSS Performance Management, that is: Performance Monitoring and analysis of Cell/Carrier/Signaling/Processor/Neighbor statistical parameters for network optimization purposes and identification of faults/abnormalities by traffic-trend analysis
• Carrying out Network Quality and performance check recommendations such as Path balance/VSWR/Signal Loss problems and other quality issues
