The project is an extension for the Jeddah international airport and it consists of 46 aircraft stands with the corresponding terminal passenger buildings and facilities.
The client is GACA (General Authority of Civil Aviation) represented by Dar Al-Handasah and the general contractor is SBG (Saudi Bin Laden Group). SBG handed the aprons construction to Al-Mabani who awarded “Avicorp/DEP Joint Venture” the aprons special services contract.
Aprons services consist of 5 systems:
- PCA (Pre Cooled Air) integrated central system for cooling the aircrafts when they are on the aprons using chilled water and sub-zero glycol-ethylene water to drive the air to a -4 degrees temperature.
- Vacuum drainage integrated system to drain the aircrafts waste tanks.
- Chilled Potable Water integrated system to fill the aircrafts with the necessary potable water.
- Blue Water integrated system to fill the aircrafts lavatory tanks.
- 400 Hz electricity for the aircrafts.
All of the systems are integrated within the aprons slabs and the interface with the airplanes is being done through specific pits embedded also in the slabs.
Main Duties:
- Acting Project Manager since late 2015.
- Design and sizing of 4 km glycol-ethylene water network with glycol chillers to serve the PCA units. Work includes also a stress analysis and expansion study for the network using Caesar II and Bentley AutoPipe software.
- Design and sizing of 4 km vacuum sewage network and plant for the aircrafts drainage system.
- Sizing the potable water network with its return loop and the blue water network using excel dynamic calculation sheets showing water properties (pressure, velocity, temperature, Reynold’s Number…)
- Design and manufacturing follow up and Factory Acceptance Test of the apron services pits.
- Follow up with the suppliers and sub-contractors to make sure that equipment and works meet with the design and the project specifications.
- Material submittals preparation and follow-up
- Meetings with other sub-contractors and coordination workshops
- FAT and SAT of all main equipment.
- Leading the work of 5 junior engineers at the technical and managerial level.
- Startup, Testing and Commissioning, Operation Training of all Ground Services Systems under our scope:
o 400 Hz System for Airplanes Power supply from Ground
o PCA System (including the sub-zero glycol chillers system)
o Potable Water system for Airplanes.
o Lavatory System ( including the blue water system and the central vacuum sewage system)

(October 2009 - Present) Half time in Paris / Half time in Beirut
Manager of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Fighting trades during execution phase.
Main Duties:
• Technical analysis of the sub-contractors offers.
• Guiding the contractors design offices to ensure that the work meets with the client specifications.
• Checking, commenting and approving the technical drawings and calculation notes for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Fighting trades including:
o HVAC
o Smoke Management
o Plumbing
o Kitchens and Pantries
o Laundries
o Jacuzzi and Spa
o Fire Fighting
• Re-defining of the stairwells pressurization strategy of the project and creating an excel software for simulating the variation of the pressurization air flow inside of the 100 m high stairs according to Ashrae Standards.
• Following up of the project progress by creating an excel software that monitors the status of 1000 drawings and documents for all the MEP trades and issues statistical data necessary for the financial follow up of the project.
• Representing DEP team for 2 years and working with Oger International in Paris, including coordination workshops, weekly progress meetings and contractors meeting.
• Preparing equipment and materials submittals.
• Responding to site queries.
DOHA OASIS - QATAR
(October 2011 - Present)
Concept Design Manager for the Mechanical Trades of the Project.
Main Duties:
• Designing the 200, 000 m² underground parking ventilation systems with jet fans.
• Establishing the concept of the smoke management system for the mall atrium.
• Designing the pressurization system of the offices tower 150 m height stairs.
• Establishing the concept of all the mechanical systems of the project and estimating the electrical load of the corresponding equipment.
• Preparing the Mechanical part of the project presentation dedicated for the client and his consultants.
