Fouzeyah Alawadhi

I completed a three-month internship at IHS Kuwait in the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department. During this experience, I deepened my understanding of HSE practices, which go beyond work sites to include employee well-being in offices and beyond. I actively contributed to monthly HSE awareness campaigns by creating posters and sharing ideas. Additionally, I gained valuable experience by presenting on HSE topics to diploma engineering students and contractors, visiting contractor sites, and managing environmental document control using Excel to ensure up-to-date compliance. One of the highlights was attending a job fair for people with disabilities, which reinforced the importance of inclusivity in the workplace.

My work experience at EQUATE has provided me with valuable insights and hands-on experience in various aspects of the Research & Development Department, including the Physical Lab, Chemical Characterization Lab, and Application Center.

During my internship at EQUATE, I had the opportunity to work in the Chemical Characterization Lab, where I gained proficiency in operating the Q20 DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) equipment. This allowed me to accurately calculate oxidation time (OIT) and determine the melting point of different materials. I also conducted extensive tests on various products, leveraging the capabilities of the machine. These experiences enhanced my technical skills and provided me with a solid foundation in polymer testing and analysis.

Additionally, I developed a strong understanding of the Industrial Hygiene process at EQUATE. Ensuring a safe working environment was a top priority, and I actively participated in implementing safety protocols and adhering to industry regulations. This experience has given me valuable insights into the importance of maintaining a safe and sustainable workplace.

My time at EQUATE also provided me with a comprehensive overview of the CLD Department polymer and chemical labs. Collaborating with experts in these areas allowed me to gain exposure to cutting-edge research and development practices in the polymer industry. I embraced the opportunity to contribute to various projects and leverage my technical knowledge to support the team's objectives.

Worked on a variety of projects, including the Sabic Polycarbonate Melt Technology Plant, the INEOS Project One, the CEYHAN PDH-PP Plant, the Qatargas Operating Company Project, and the CEPSA Project. During my time at TR, I was responsible for several tasks, such as fresh drafting backchecking, fixing and editing any mistakes in the diagrams using the Bluebeam program, defining the valves in each diagram, drawing P&ID sketches using VISIO, and writing PCN from scratch.
