1. Coordinates the activities of the department and provides direction to staff.
2. Ensures the compliance of the department to the Joint Commission International Accreditation Standard to achieve continuous certification
3. Oversee the compliance of KSMC to pertinent organizations such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Civil Defense, World Health Organization and other governing bodies pertaining to directives and memorandum related to safety.
4. Provides consultation with other departments on issues concerning safety to eliminate or reduce occupational hazards and risks and eventually minimize losses.
5. Sit as a permanent member of the Environment, Health and Safety Committee to discuss and provide solution to issues related to Facilities management and Safety.
6. Sit as a member of the JCIA Steering Committee to provide updates regarding KSMC compliance to the standard requirement of Joint Commission International Accreditation Standard.
7. Liaises with other departments, units and sections for implementation and monitoring of safety related activities.
8. Coordinates the formulation, implementation and review of the External and Internal Disaster Preparedness plans.
9. Coordinates with other departments in the preparation of plans, policies and procedures to assess foreseen hazards and risks.
10. Coordinates the conduct of emergency drills such as Code Red, Code Orange, Code Black, Code Pink and others.
11. Prepares monthly and semi - annual reports regarding the activities of the department and submit to Director of Safety
12. Other activities as required by the Director of Safety.
