Reporting to the Group CEO of Arabtec Group
Part of the new Group Management Team brought on board to restructure and put back the Company on a profitable track.
In charge of developing and leading the ERM and Compliance processes for Arabtec Group and its subsidiaries, as part of the restructuring of the organisation and the reshuffling of its governance framework.
Responsible for leading the design and implementation of improved Group Management processes and to embed new business standards and promote better ways of working across all operating companies.
In charge of developing Business Continuity and Crisis Management processes for the Group.
Sidra Medical and Research Center will be a groundbreaking hospital, research and education institution, currently under construction in Doha, Qatar, focusing on the health and wellbeing of women and children regionally and globally.
Sidra will be a fully digital facility, incorporating the most advanced information technology applications in clinical, research and business functions.
Sidra will be funded by a US$7.9 billion endowment from Qatar Foundation, one of the largest endowments of its kind in the world.
As part of Sidra Management, creation of the Director of Enterprise Risk Management role and of the associated organisation, to define, implement and lead the overall ERM policy of Sidra.
Responsible also for ensuring a robust business continuity and insurance program is implemented and managed.
The Expressway Programme is a 40+Billion $US programme, with over 30 projects, for upgrading the road network and associated infrastructure in Qatar. KBR is the Programme Management Consultant for Ashghal, Qatar’s Public Works Authority.
Leadership of the Programme Risk Management process and member of the Programme Management Core Team :
• Management of the Risk Management team.
• Responsible for ensuring and supporting the management of risks (technical, contractual, legal, financial, strategic, environmental...) across the Programme, in close association with operational and support teams.
• Ensuring coaching and training ofteams on Risk Management, to develop Risk Management awareness and buy-in.
• Follow-up and monitoring of Risk Management activities of all designated design consultants, supervision consultants and building contractors engaged on the projects.
• Responsible for ensuring the management of Programme level risks, for overall risk reporting and for liaising with Ashghal on all Risk Management activities and topics.
• Contribution to the definition and implementation of the ERM framework of Ashghal.
Definition, development and implementation of the Risk Management process on the Doha Metro Project.:
• Responsible for ensuring and supporting the management of risks (technical, contractual, legal, financial, strategic, environmental...) in close association with Qatar Rail and PMC operational and support teams.
• Coaching and training of teams on Risk Management.
• Assistance to Qatar Rail to develop the Risk Management process at project level and at overall Rail Program Level and to build a risk culture and awareness in this newly created organisation.
AMRAE is the French professional association of Risk Managers (equivalent to AIRMIC in the UK or RIMS in the USA) in charge of developing best practices and of building standards for effective Enterprise Risk Management.
• Development and promotion of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in French companies.
• Speaker in conferences and seminars on Enterprise Risk Management, and co-author of a book on ERM.
• Member of the AMRAE Scientific Committee and of the ERM Industry and Services Commission.
Creation of the Chief Risk Officer position and of the Corporate Risk Management Department (20 people).
Responsible for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) : creating, deploying and leading the overall ERM policy of the Company
• Definition of the ERM process and policy: Company standards and procedures drafting, functional management and coaching of a network of 30 Risk Management coordinators in all the operational and support units.
• Leadership for ERM implementation : driving change management actions and bringing support to operational teams and support functions, in order to manage risks and to embed ERM in the Company culture and to make it an integrated part of the management, the strategic and the decision making processes.
• Corporate and "local" risk mapping : support to risk owners and business managers for risk identification and implementation of mitigation plans.
• Reporting to the CEO, to the Executive Committee and to the Board on all aspects related to ERM to ensure a shared and coherent vision on risk issues and the implementation of adequate actions, arising from ERM, Internal Control and Internal Audit processes
• Strong implication in the definition of Internal Control and Internal Audit processes, along with the conception and deployment of a shared Governance Risk and Compliance information system.
• On request of COO, cross-organizational projects leadership on strategic issues : health crisis management, improvement of project management process, client focused quality management…
Responsible for definition and implementation of Company policies for :
• Crisis management and business continuity,
• Global security and business intelligence
• Information systems security.
Risk Manager of ALSTOM Transport Global Solutions (new position in Company organisation)
Definition, development and implementation of the Risk Management process for the division in charge of all turnkey rail and urban transportation projects worldwide (EMEA, Asia Pacific, South America, and Northern Africa) :
• Responsible for ensuring and supporting the management of risks (technical, contractual, legal, financial, strategic, environmental...) in close association with operational and support teams.
• Building and management of the team of Tender & Project Risk Managers.
• Risk reporting to Alstom Transport management and to Alstom Corporate.
• Coaching of operational and support teams on Risk Management.

Main assignements
Total Exploration Production - Contracted Risk Manager (5 year full-time position) of 2 deep offshore oil fields development projects in Angola, representing a 9 Bn $ investment:
• Definition and implementation of the Risk Management process and support to project teams to efficiently apply it.
• Qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, mitigation plans definition and implementation.
• Validation and supervision of the Risk Management system put in place by the main contractors (Schlumberger, Technip, Saipem, Kvaerner, FMC, Hyundai, Samsung…) and coaching of their teams.
• Reporting and communication towards Total management and project partners (Exxon, BP, Statoil...).
Nortel Networks :
• Definition of processes and tools to put in place Risk Management within the new 3G business unit.
