I was initially assigned in Muscat and Salalah International Airport project in January 2013 until October 2018, with the designation of Sr. Special Airport System (SAS) Engineer. Until I was re-assigned as Electrical Engineer/Inspector on November 2019 in the Midfield Terminal Complex - Abu Dhabi International Airport project. As an Electrical Inspection Engineer, my primary responsibilities are to ensure the delivery of the project good quality, objective and to meet the satisfaction of the Client. I was responsible to maintain effective communication with the project team, contractors, designers, client, and other stakeholders and ensures that high-level plans are elaborated to details were implemented. I integrated the project knowledge areas within the processes such as planning, executing, monitoring and control, and project close out.

Included in my current tasks are construction supervision which involves; Monitoring of daily activities, progress reporting and reviewing of look ahead schedule; Organizing overall site coordination amongst Client, Contractors, End-users and Stakeholders; Monitoring of critical procurement tracker from local purchased orders, fabrication, delivery, installation, until testing & commissioning and client take-over; Monitoring of construction works day by day to ensure that proper manning, material and equipment availability are check and maintain at site; Participating daily inspections with the Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor of Electrical construction works to ensure the electrical installations are compliance with approved shop drawings and specifications; and lastly, observed field works to ensure that workmanship and installed materials met the standards.

For my previous involvement as Senior Special Airport System (SAS) Engineer in Muscat and Salalah International Airport project, I was involved in project supervision and delivered the following duties and responsibilities successfully to wit: Maintained proper and consistent communication with Clients, team members, and other stakeholders including main Contractors; Monitored and controlled the construction work sequencing to ensure that the project is completed as intended; Performed project success evaluation through compliance to project objectives, scope of work, allocated budget, timeline and customer satisfaction; Conducted proper closing of the project. This includes providing recognition to team members, collection of lessons learned, and keeping vital records for references of future projects; Performed site inspections to ensure compliance of electrical installations as per local regulations and project specifications; Monitored and supervised the integrity of Main Contractors document submittal for operation & maintenance manuals, method statement for training manuals & programs/schedules, method statement for testing & commissioning procedures and final project completion reports, dossiers and takeover manuals; Supervised the coordination works related to schedules & notifications for site acceptance test (SAT) and snagging/de-snagging/defect inspection of a system (Civil/Architectural/MEP/BMS/IT Passive) to the Client/Employer, Stakeholders, End-users & Main Contractors; Supervised the coordination works related to training schedules with the Client/Employer, Stakeholders, End-users & Main Contractors; Supervised the coordination works related to handing-over & takeover documentation to Client/Employer.

I had successfully delivered my duties and responsibilities to take care of the Electrical and Special Airport System (SAS) Design works of Dubai International Airport Expansion (Phase-II) - Concourse-3. Being a Senior Electrical Engineer, I did supervise my six numbers of AutoCAD Draughtsman on hand to hand basis just to ensure that the electrical & SAS design shop drawings are being done in accordance with the issued for construction (IFC) drawings and project specifications requirements. I did ensure that the electrical & SAS design works were properly implemented at site and properly coordinated with other disciplines by visiting the site in a timely manner.
My specific tasks are as follows: Reviewed Special Airport System (SAS) - Electrical & SAS Contract drawings and specifications to determine what are the required information’s to be considered in preparing the detailed Electrical & SAS shop drawings; Prepared cable containment design and shop drawing layouts for Electrical and SAS System both Backbone and Distribution Layout (SAS power & clean earth layout, Telecommunication, IPCCTV, CCTV, SACS, PAS, RADIO and cable containment layout (wire trunking and cable tray); Prepared detailed shop drawings for Substations, Server Rooms, Data Centre, GSM Rooms, Technical Rooms, Electrical & UPS Rooms and Mechanical Plant Rooms; Monitored the Electrical & SAS works carried out as per the approved shop drawings and the progress as per the approved construction programme for accurate and timely installations; Prepared report on the progress of Electrical Engineering & SAS works as directed by the Engineering & Project Manager; and lastly, Coordinated with other personnel (MEP/SAS) with different services to ensure that deadlines, procedures and project requirements are met.

Such as: Fire Alarm System, Lightning protection, Earthing System, Lighting, Power, Telephone, CCTV, SACS, PAS and cable containment layout (wire trunking, cable tray and cable ladder); Prepared Voltage Drop Calculation and Cable Schedule; Modified Electrical Load Schedules and Single Line Diagrams due to revised actual electrical load; Prepared detailed shop drawings for Electrical Sub-stations, Electrical Rooms, UPS/Battery Room and Mechanical Rooms; and lastly, Prepared the Electrical Material Submittal and Document Submittal.

I gave my best on this opportunity and 2 months later, I gained another achievement as my Project Manager upgraded me once again from Electrical Engineer Grade-1 to Grade-2. I had successfully delivered and completed bid documents for electrical, fire alarm, telephone and other auxiliary system works; Reviewed plans and coordinated with higher management prior to final issuance for bidding and construction; Prepared electrical designs and computations, which includes, breaker sizing, cable sizing, grounding calculation, lightning protection, lighting and power system, etc.; Prepared design drawing layouts of Electrical System and developed details drawings for job site implementation. Such as: Lighting, Small Power, Substation, Public Address, Communication and fire alarm system; Prepared Electrical System Technical Specifications.
Most of these projects I handled in WSP Asia were outside the Country such as UAE, Qatar & UK.
