o Is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of research activities of the staff, and has overall responsibility for the assigned budget;
o Has a pivotal role in chairing and leading the advisory council in making policy on all aspects of research direction, strategic development, and in managing its implementation;

o collects research performance reports from faculties and submits a complied report to the RCS Vice President;
o organize seminars, conferences and other similar activities related to research at the University level;
o identifies capacity building requirements for research process;
o makes plan and prepares budget requirements for the office;
o ensures that academic staff/researchers submit progress and terminal reports in due time to the research office via faculty / school/ college/ institute RCS coordinators;
o Administers/manages financial matters of research projects funded and executed by the research and development office;
o solicits and supports in searching funding sources for research;
o organize annual work plan for research and make it available in the University website;
o keeps record of all value adding research activities;
o ensures the University to be more research focused with thematic areas emanated from the development goals of the country and help the community and the teaching activity benefit from the research outcome;
