Consultation: Instances where our company is confronted with a situation that
requires legal advise
b) Attendances: In the event where the company requires a lawyer to attend
meetings and negotiations on behalf of the company
c) Agreements: Preparation, negotiation, conclusion and witnessing agreements for
and on behalf of the company.
d) Correspondence: This is in instances where the Legal Officer is required to
render services in as far as letters, telephones, faxes and emails are concerned in
specific matters.
e) Debt Collection: The Legal Officer will assist the company in collecting its debts
and participate in property management of the company
f) Legal Opinion: Opinions are rendered in accordance to the laws of the country on
controversial matters like land transaction after due diligence the Legal consultant has
to give his opinion on whether the company should proceed and pay the land
owner.
g) Company Legal Officer services. This however does not include the formation or
incorporation of companies.
h) He shall act diligently, actively and to the best of his ability and will take all
reasonable steps and care as and when required in the discharge of his duties. He
will endeavor to promote the interest of the company as required by law.
i) He will prepare all the company legal documents, including conveyance
agreement, pleadings, memoranda and other relevant documents which are
required to be filed from time to time with the Registrar of companies Act and they
shall be filed in the time prescribed by the law.
This is a post graduate masters that can only be pursued by a person who holds a bachelors Degree of Laws (LLB) from a recognized University. The Masters takes a minimum two years with research in the relevant field and for my case my research was on the Doctrine of Arbitrability and its Applicability in Uganda.
