● Chairing departmental meetings and providing agenda for discussions;
● Liaising with members of staff responsible for time tabling with regards to the development of staff;
● Managing departmental resources such as inventories, text books and other learning resources
● Planning curriculum including developing and making schemes of work;
● Leading the department in developing and improving teaching and learning outcomes;
● Monitoring and evaluating examination and other students’ performance data and reporting results to the principal;
● Recommending appropriate professional development for teachers within the department;
● Planning and implementing the induction of new teachers within the department;
● Supporting and guiding teachers within the department in their interactions with the students, parents and other colleagues;
● Identifying staff needs in the department and advising the principal on the same;
● Conducting performance management of teachers within the department
● Teaching subjects of specialization (History & Kiswahili)
● Maintenance of student discipline
● Implementing effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment resulting in notable decrease in behavioral issues and an increase in student productivity
● In- charge of students’ affairs and welfare
● Collaborative planning with D/Principal Administration and teachers to ensure effective teaching - learning
● Organising and fundraising for 100 % successful holding of the school’s yearly cultural day while liaising with a team of 5 teachers, school administration, students and sponsors.
