MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST as GENERALIST
 Perform routine and special procedures in hematology, clinical chemistry, clinical microscopy, serology, blood banking and phlebotomy.
 Assist pathologist in performing laboratory diagnosis.


Medical Technologist in CLINICAL CHEMISTRY SECTION (Blood Chemistry)
 Responsible in performing routine and special chemistry analysis in blood (fasting and non-fasting) urine (random and timed specimen), csf and other body fluid.
 Performs test calibration and quality control.
 Troubleshoots chemistry analyzers (Cobas Integra 400, Olympus AU400 and serolyte machine).
 Performs cardiac markers like CK-MB, troponin T and troponin I.
 Responsible for interfacing laboratory results (analyzer-computer-unit scheeme).
Medical technologist in HEMATOLOGY SECTION
 Performs manual and automated CBC, platelet count and blood indices using ABX Pentra 60 and SYSMEX XT800i, reticulocyte count and peripheral blood smear.
 Malarial screening using thick and thin blood smear and malarial test kit.
 Analyses CSF (qualitative and quantitative) and other body fluid for total cell count.
 Performs coagulation test using automated humaclot duo (APTT, Protime and INR) and CTBT.
Medical Technologist in Clinical Microscopy Section
 Performs urinalysis, fecalysis and occult blood.
 Analyses semen (qualitative and quantitative) and other body fluids for tota l cell count and differential count.
Medical Technologist in MICROBIOLOGY SECTION (Bacteriology)
 Performs gram staining for primary identification of bacteria, potassium hydroxide test for fungal l elements, wet mount for trichomonas species and AFB staining for acid fast bacilli.
 Prepares culture media like Blood Agar Plate, MacConkey Agar, Chocolate Agar Plate and Mueller Hinton Agar.
 Responsible for and identification and culture and sensitivity of bacteria.
 Troubleshoots bacteriological analyzers like mini APi machine
Medical Technologist in SEROLOGY SECTION
 Responsible for performing serological examination (qualitative and quantitative) such as hepatitis profile, thyroid profile, tumor markers, typhy dot, CRP, rheumatoid factor, ASO, malarial test, dengue blot, Rapid Plasma Reagin and HIV1/2.
 Performs test calibration and quality control.
 Troubleshoots serological analyzers like Elecsys 2010.
Medical Technologist in BLOOD BANKING SECTION
 Rescreen donors’ blood (HIV1/2, HBsAg, RPR, malaria and HCV) prior to blood transfusion practices.
 Performs and analyze blood typing and cross matching results (minor and major crossmatch) between patients and donor blood.
Medical Technologist in Drug Testing Section
 Initial screening of prohibited drugs like THC, barbiturates, methamphetamine, etc.
PHLEBOTOMY SECTION
 Performs blood extraction and other techniques (bleeding time and clotting time).
 Releasing of laboratory results to OPD patients.
HISTOPATHOLOGY LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST
 Assist Pathologist while cutting tissue specimen
 Prepares chemicals needed for fixing and processing tissue.
 Expert in histopathologic techniques like embedding, blocking, cutting, staining and mounting tissues.
 Microtome expert.
 Responsible for keeping slides and files in filling area.
