Appointed to an executive leadership role with fiduciary responsibility for the financial calendar reporting schedule together with management of the accounting function. Remit support to a range of business critical initiatives including the development and implementation of a general ledger scheme for a new MasterCard program for International Smart Card, worked closely with Network International and S2M as the switch companies, the design and implementation of a new company IFRS GL accounting scheme in QuickBooks Enterprise, and the implementation of an electronic document repository system in SharePoint.

• Implemented two new MasterCard programs for International Smart Card as business administrator super user role, and delivered an accounting general ledger scheme for an estimated 600, 000 cards.
• Implemented an electronic document repository system in SharePoint for Canny Quest International.
• Led the design and launch of a new IFRS accounting general ledger scheme and its Phase 1 migration into QBE in preparation for the Phase 2 SAP migration Involving $40M in assets and the formulation of a blue print for SAP FI/CO migration.
Hired as Chief Agent in Canada for ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, an ING Group US Subsidiary and charged with providing all branch financial reporting ($35 Million in assets), annual regulatory reporting, capital management, external audits of financial statements, Test of Adequacy of Assets & Branch Adequacy of Assets Test returns and the Dynamic Capital Adequacy Test report. Collaborated on Appointed Actuary reports, income tax returns, and peer review reports.
Key Achievements
• Acted as the key advisor for the $5M Paddington Project negotiation to implement coinsurance services and reinsurance security agreements for the ReliaStar Life Insurance Company.
• Developed an enterprise risk management policy for the Canadian Branch of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company (ORSA)
• Adopted a lead role as the Compliance Consultant for National Liability & Fire Insurance Company, a Berkshire Hathaway Company. Developing ORSA policies and guidelines for branch risk management.
Promoted to the Executive Management Team with responsibility as Chief Compliance Officer across eight clients and a remit to act as the principal consultant on IFRS issues for the client companies. Directed and coordinated the completion of annual regulatory reports for the eight client companies, including external audits of financial statements and all regulatory return filings, Dynamic Capital Adequacy Test report, Appointed Actuary reports, income tax reports, and peer review reports.

• Delivered compliance services to the Canadian Branches of foreign insurance companies including capital management, financial reporting and all aspects of regulatory compliance with the federal and provincial regulators.
• Managed insurance accounting for Canadian Branch of foreign insurance companies that includes monthly reporting, quarterly financial statements and annual financial statements.
• Key advisor in the Project Gemini negotiations to sell large part of Canadian group reinsurance operations of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company business to RGA Reinsurance ($50M transaction).
• Directed, coordinated or assisted in the completion of annual regulatory reports for 8 client companies including external audits of financial statements and all regulatory return filings, Dynamic Capital Adequacy Test report, Appointed Actuary reports, income tax reports, and peer review reports.
• Managed migration of Hannover Re Canadian Branch ($100M in assets) insurance and accounting records to SAP FI / CO as well as migrating their insurance records to a Global Data Warehouse working directly with the technical team.
• Managed treasury function of several Canadian Branches and Head Office treasury.
• Authorized signatory for D.M. Williams & Associates, and 8 other Canadian Branches of foreign insurance companies.
• Cisco ASA Firewall administration (including VPN), Network administration, VOIP phone system administration, and PC trouble shooter.
Hired to lead the financial reporting activities of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, including monthly reporting of cash books, quarterly financial statements and annual financial statements. Assumed responsibility as the network administrator and PC technician and introduced e-mail as well as a fully networking office infrastructure.
Key Achievements
• Led several IT integration and upgrade projects; connected the Branch to head office’s insurance system using Raptor System to enable direct entry and coordinated the migration from HP400 to HP9000 environments.
• Responsible for all Canadian Branch disbursements and receipts of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company in both the Raptor system and local general ledger.
• Delivered the monthly reporting of cash books, quarterly and annual financial statements of ReliaStar Life Insurance Company and Frankona Life Insurance Company as well as their Canadian Branch disbursements.
