Monitoring rates of healthcare associated infections. Monitoring and analysis of incidents of infections. Identifying risk factors for healthcare associated infections. Participating in implementation of strategies to reduce the risk of healthcare associated infections to patients, visitors, healthcare providers. Identifying and investigating unusual clusters, exposures or or outbreaks of infectious diseases. Providing education, training and consultation to staff on infection control and epidemiology.
The Infection Control Nurse is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis and reporting of Nosocomial Infections; educating employees about infection control' development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet Department of Health, World Health Organizations and Center for Disease and Control requirements.
Careful assessment and monitoring of patient progress in order to watch for sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition that might require emergency intervention. Responsible for managing medication doses, anesthesia and ventilatory support. Need to provide regular status updates to patients and their family members so that they can make informed decisions regarding treatment.
