Windows Administrator with close to 7 years of experience. Managed Datacenter, Production and Dev / QA environments which consist of Physical and Virtual servers. Managed Windows Active Directory, Altiris, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manger (SEPM), VMware vSphere and Power Admin Monitoring tool. Involved in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Operating systems, Active Directory and as well as applications on Windows servers.

Responsibilities
•Manage servers in Production and Development environments. Windows server administration, Windows application installation and troubleshooting, Active Directory management, Group Policies, Active Directory Replication monitoring.
•Manage Datacenters in USA and India. Manage more than 80 ESXi servers, 3000 servers and workstations which comprises of Windows 2012 R2, 2008 R2, 2003, 8.1, 7, XP and Linux operating systems.
•Regularly check and upgrade applications such as Power Admin Monitoring tool, Symantec Endpoint protection Manager and clients.
•Design, deploy, manage and upgrade Infrastructure monitoring systems such as Power Admin Monitoring tool. Monitor critical systems and address alerts using Power Admin monitoring tool.
•ESXi Resource utilization monitoring and Datastore capacity planning. Periodic unused VM removal and reclaim space to the Datastore. Routine Datastore report generation using PowerCLI scripts and using vCenter operations Manager.
•Troubleshooting and resolving performance issues on servers and client machines.
•Create patch policy in Altiris and patch systems that includes domain controllers and other critical servers with approved security patches.
•VM builds from scratch, through templates, OVF, template build, ESXi 5.1 and 5.5 administration with VMware Vcenter. VMware physical to Virtual (P2V) and V2V conversions.
•VM host & Datastore migration, Disk allocation, Snapshot management, VMware tools upgrades, ISO upload to Datastore, VMware Vcenter user account management etc.
•RAID, DRAC, iLO configuration and OS installation on bare-metal hardware such as Dell PowerEdge, HP DL servers. Coordinate with vendors to fix hardware issues such as Hard disk drive, RAM.
•DNS management that includes Zone creation, adding Linux server entries for name resolution in server monitoring, configuring forwarders etc.
•Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP 12.1.6) - Manage, Deploy, Upgrade and Administer. Assess system security threats and risks and implement mitigation strategies. Address Virus, Worm outage in the environment by isolating the system based on the criticality and remediate with appropriate action plans.
•Knowledge base articles creation on SharePoint, Altassian Confluence. Knowledge transfer to team during and upon completing projects.
•Coordinate with teams and oversee maintenance activities, system updates and Infrastructure changes. Involved in Hardware procurement, provisioning and decommissioning. Capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning.
•Coordinate with Network team and create new VLAN upon IP exhaustion, procure and install network device and addressing network related latencies.
•Using available and approved PowerShell and PowerCLI scripts to automate tasks.
•Working with Independent auditing teams and provide reports regarding Microsoft Active Directory and other application user compliance details.
•EC2 Instance build and S3 file upload in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
•Coordinate with people on different time zones to work on projects.
Projects
Altiris patch solution (IT Management Suite Version 8)
Implemented Altiris (ITMS) 8. Used this tool to patch all the servers and workstations including Domain controllers and other critical servers.
Power Admin implementation
Implemented Power Admin (PA) monitoring tool to monitor Windows, Linux and ESXI servers. With this tool, 100% of the critical servers are proactively monitored and remediated issues such as Disk space, Ping down and service stop alerts.
SEPM Upgrade from 12.1 RU6 MP1 to 12.1 RU6 MP5
Upgraded Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) from 12.1 RU6 MP1 to MP5. SEPM is the main Antivirus for our environment. That reports and quarantines Virus and worm intrusion in the network.
Server patching compliance
Worked with Security team and patched all systems on a new environment. Achieved 100% compliance in ISO and Security audits for Pentest vulnerability tests.
Automation through PowerShell and PowerCLI Scripts
Automated repetitive tasks such as Disk space report generation, Host entry update (for a specific project - Altiris) using PowerShell scripts. VMware tools installation using PowerCLI scripts.
SEP reconfiguration to address severe network latency
One of the environments got severely affected with network latency issues. We found that Symantec endpoint protection was the cause of the issue. To address the issue, I have made changes in SEP heartbeat interval, Download randomization, SEPM updates storage limits and Client Virus scanning settings etc. This fixed the latency issue considerably.
Domain Controller recreation
On separate instances, Primary and secondary Domain controllers went down after server hardware related issue. They both went beyond repairable. Replaced two faulty additional domain controllers by performing Seizing FSMO roles and metadata cleanup with new ones in a live environment.
