Working on new concepts and designs of Set Top Boxes, my main role is to recreate all defects raised by the QA Team and to triage them into platform based and application based. Platform based defects are then raised as JIRA Tickets - for discussion at the daily Defect Scrub Meetings and allocation to, and to be actioned by, the appropriate Dev Teams - and app defects are raised on the Trello boards for actions by the app Dev Teams.
Formulation and authoring of Test Specifications and Procedures for the validation and test of ruggedized equipment for MoD use.
Primary Image design and build simulation and training aids, primarily used in the training of military and civil personnel in the correct usage of military hardware. Our client base includes defence organisations world-wide, civil training agencies, police forces and simulator manufacturers. My role is the first line support of all equipment, Hardware and Software, as well as the control of all incoming repairs and to ensure that the clients receive the correct goods and to provide any hardware or software support subsequently required. Support is implemented via telephone, email or site visits as required. I also control the delegation of incoming repairs to the correct departments.

DSK design and manufacture data monitoring and recording equipment used in defence applications worldwide. Duties included testing and repair of all production items, as well as after sales support via Telephone help line and on site service. Design and build of all bespoke test equipment. I designed and built a multi-pulse function generator to test and debug radar-sweep record and replay equipment. Formulation of all Test Specifications. Worked to BS5750, TICKIT and Military standards. I have MoD Security Clearance up to Top Secret level.
Frazer Nash Technology
Frazer Nash design and build battery-powered vehicles. Formulation of Test Specifications for their product portfolio, the design and build of the test equipment required and verification of all changes to Test Hardware and Procedures prior to formal release. I designed and built a variety of test equipment from simple switch boxes to a PC-controlled FPGA-based controller, which were used to debug and test the 2- and 4-wheel motor controllers.
Namco Europe Ltd.
Namco are the leading manufacturers of arcade type entertainment machines, ranging from sit-down rides to shooting games and from ski-slope simulators to horse-racing simulation. Fault diagnosis and the subsequent rectification to component level on the whole range of Namco products, Customer Support via site visits and a telephone help-line, liaison with R&D on future builds, and assisting Production with problems on the assembly line. I also designed and built a series of test noxes, ris and harnesses to debug and test individual boards and complete games controllers.
Hotel Services manufacture, supply and install computerised Minibars, computers and peripherals to hotel sites all over the world. All in house repairs of computers and peripherals to board levels, all repairs to controller PCBs, PSUs and modems to component level as well as technical telephone support to hotel staff and our engineers whilst at customer sites.
My main projects were with the company's 3-Com account, where I was involved with the design and the testing of their communications products. I was part of a team of engineers who tested and repairs the units as they rolled of the production lines. Through strict controls at Walters the company achieved BS5750 accreditation. Assisting the Quality Control Managers in the enforcement of the quality control measures and the suitable training of junior engineers was also one of my roles.
My duties included configuration of the company's computer products to customer specification, shipment of the systems to the customer and provision of post sales support. On-site service was carried out to board level and in house repairs to component level.
As an ISTQB qualified Senior Test Engineer, I have worked in various roles, including most recently the validation, verification and test of STB, DVR and IDTV solutions for OEMs and a range of MW providers and end-users. I have supervised a team of Test Engineers who have written functional and non-functional Test Cases to validate the requirements and verify the product. I have also designed test-jigs and test-boxes to assist with the verification, as well as performing component and chip changes as part of the design stage and in exploratory testing. Previously, I was involved in various specialised electronic applications, such as gaming equipment for entertainment purposes, and simulators and recording equipment for MoD and civilian applications
