A $40 million project for the construction of a mechanical ventilation station for the montreal metro (STM-Tunnel). A mechanical ventilation station is an imposing infrastructure located between two metro stations and equipped with two powerful fans that extract hot air from the metro network through entrances equipped with ventilation grilles. The ventilation stations of the initial métro network allow the evacuation of approximately 60, 000 cubic feet of air per minute compared to some 240, 000 cubic feet per minute for the new systems. Huge acoustic silencers reduce the noise of these fans to ensure the peace of mind of residents located near a ventilation station.

A summary of my responsibility:
- Review the monthly progress of the contractor's schedule and budget
- Ensure quality control of the project on site and find solutions for the design team and the construction team
- Approve shop drawings, construction methods, contractor proposals, change requests, ...
- Any other responsibilities related to the construction work and the design team to ensure the quality of the project, the health and safety on site and for the customers in the existing metro networks and the good progress of the project

Nouvlr is an engineering and construction general partnership building the Réseau Express Métropolitan (REM) light rail system. Our group is composed of SNC-Lavalin, Dragados Canada Inc., Groupe Aecon Québec Ltée, Pomerleau Inc. and EBC Inc.

The project budget is $6.5 billion, financed by CDPQ Infra, the Government of Quebec, a loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB), Hydro-Quebec and the ARTM.
The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is a public transit project currently under construction that should see the light of day on July 31, 2023 in the metropolitan region of Montreal, Quebec (Canada). It is planned that the REM will initially connect downtown Montreal and the suburbs of Brossard (South Shore), then be extended to the suburbs of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (West Island ), Deux-Montagnes (North Shore) and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.

The project, led by CDPQ Infra, is based on a fully automatic, driverless light rail system (LRT). The transit rate would be similar to that of the Montreal metro, between 2.5 and 15 minutes. The REM would be 67 kilometers long and would therefore become one of the longest automated networks in the world, after the Dubai Metro, Vancouver's SkyTrain and the Singapore Metro.


A summary of my responsibility:
responsible for quality control, quality assurance, inspection and test plan, quality plan, work method, shop drawings, lead audits with subcontractors and represent the contractor whenever the client is auditing our project

In this project, Stantec provide engineering services for the design of infrastructures, mainly in the sectors of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the airport and Deux-Montagnes, using its expertise in railway design., roads, bridges, drainage, buildings, as well as in urban development, transport planning

- Assist senior engineers in their various stages of designing plans and specs (30%, 70% and 100%)
- Respond to requests for technical information from the Nouvlr construction team
- Revise engineering plans and specifications before sending them to clients
- Detect conflicts between different disciplines and do the multidisciplinary coordination
- Prepare and present to senior management the progress of the project in terms of design, the schedule and the costs of the design
- Participate in the design cost estimate
respond to customer comments made on the plans and specs of our design
