The New Cairo Wastewater Pipeline project aims to augment the capacity and efficiency of the existing wastewater infrastructure by constructing a pipeline system that directs sewage from New Cairo to the El Gabal El Asfar facility. This initiative is essential to accommodate the increasing wastewater flow resulting from population growth and urban development in the region. The project encompasses the installation of pipelines with diameters ranging from 3400 mm to 3500 mm.

This is the largest wastewater treatment plant in the world, with a design capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters per day. Spanning approximately 155 acres (650, 000 square meters), it is located east of the Suez Canal, 27 kilometres south of Port Said. The project plays a crucial role in Egypt’s water resource management, treating and repurposing wastewater for agricultural use, with the goal of irrigating 400, 000 acres in the Sinai Peninsula.
