Creating and leading a film club for children between the ages of 10 to 15 is a rewarding and enriching experience that involves various aspects of organization, instruction, and mentorship.
As the leader of this film club, my responsibilities included: Curriculum Development, Weekly Online Sessions, Encouraging Creativity, Mentoring and Guidance, Organizational Tasks and Celebrating Achievements.
Leading a film club for children not only involves teaching technical skills but also instilling a passion for storytelling and creativity. It's about providing a platform where young minds can explore their imaginations, learn new skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for the art of filmmaking.
I was responsible for teaching a class of 20 students aged between 15 to 25 from countries from an underprivileged community, helping them express themselves through cinema and learn the technical aspects of the industry, to use filmmaking as a means of generating income. Additionally, I coordinated with heads of program to develop the curriculum and managed logistical aspects of filmmaking for the students.
An international award-winning Lebanese film director and photographer. Also, an IB film professor, writer, editor, producer and cinema therapist. Grew up in Lagos since 1995, then moved to my hometown Beirut for my studies in 2008. With a bachelor in cinema followed by a master's degree in film directing and cinematherapy, my artistic brilliance shines through my remarkable works, including the award-winning short fiction film "Fishing out of the Sea" and my impactful medium-length documentary, "The Perfect Picture," embarked on a global journey, captivating audiences across 36 festivals worldwide, including prestigious festivals like IDFA, HOTDOCS, London Shorts, and Glasgow Short Film Festival. My short documentary, "Modern Famine," received recognition from Al Jazeera, showcasing my ability to craft compelling narratives by filming with an iPhone. My work is almost always known for the emotional complexity, depth and layering it holds, tackling not only personal but also social issues. I witness and interpret all that is unseen and unheard, pointing out what everyone chooses to disregard. Currently working on my PhD and my first feature documentary.
