• Overall HSE Responsibility for the LRT project covering 4 Lines (Yellow, Green, Red and Purple) including; 27 At-Grade stations, 10 Underground Stations, 38.5 km of Track, 1 Via duct, 1 Depot.
• Daily interface with the Client, Qatar Rail Company to ensure alignment and to proffer advice on strategies to achieve our zero harm goals.
• Monitoring the performance of the Design and Build contractor and its team of over 80 HSE Staff tasked with the safe delivery of the 3 billion dollar project.
• Responsible for 4 Tunnel Boring Machines on Line 1, NATM Tunnelling on Line 2, Segment Factory, Cut and Cover and Portals, Egress Shafts and 16 Deep Underground Stations.
• Daily interface with the Client Ar-Riyadh Development Authority, and Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants.
• Leading a team of 30 HS&E Specialists and tasked with the safe delivery of the key and complex sections of packages 1 &2 on the 22 billion dollar project
• Working in the client role with an oversight of the core H&S Team at Crossrail managing the Improvements, Systems and Data Teams
• Part of the leadership team responsible for developing health and safety strategy on the Crossrail programme
• Working with over 20 Principal Contractors and Joint ventures which include Vinci, Costain, Skanska, Laing O Rourke, Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall, Bam, Kier, Ferrovial (Western Running Tunnels) Dragados, Sisk, (Eastern Running Tunnels) Murphy etc., to help deliver a harm-free project.
• Strategic management of Health and Safety Performance of all Principal Contractors on the Crossrail Programme to ensure compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
• Advising a number of project management teams across the programme on the implementation and interpretation of UK legislation and tunneling health & safety standards
• Managing and Implementing Crossrail’s Target Zero Programme
• Designing, Implementing and Managing Crossrail’s Reward and Recognition ‘Gateway’ Scheme
• Responsible for implementing improvement projects across the Crossrail programme
• Involved in improving the investigation of incidents across Crossrail sites.
• Leading on the establishment of Crossrail’s Behavioural Safety Programme
• Leading on organising Principal Contractor H&S Forums to drive engagement and promote best practice.
• Managing HS&E issues surrounding the delivery of the Jubilee and Northern Line signaling systems.
• Managing the safety performance and engaging contractors to ensure the delivery of set milestones.
• Cross delivery group management of HS&E issues e.g. implementation of the HAVs, Work at Height improvement projects.
• Managing HS&E issues surrounding the tunnelling works at Green Park Step Free Access which involved shotcreting, excavations, structural demolition, coordinating with the design and construction teams on the monitoring of structural movements and general works within the shafts and in and around Green Park Underground Station
• Innovation and management of hand arm vibration monitoring systems.
• Developing and providing training on select HS&E topics to staff as and when required.
• Managing the Site Waste Management Plans and implementing the 'Zero Waste Program'
• Monitoring and tracking waste generated from construction activities and reporting periodically on waste life cycle
• Managing safety behavioural programs and running HS&E focus weeks and forums.
• Managing HS&E issues on a number of projects across the London Underground system including the Stratford, ODA and LU project for the 2012 Olympics.
• Delivering general health, safety & environmental (HS&E) advice across all areas of the company and advising all levels of managers to facilitate full legislative compliance.
• Overseeing site set up on over 12 different station modernisation projects to ensure compliance with HS&E requirements.
• Delivering general HS&E advice to support the development and implementation of project health, safety, quality & environmental plans and programmes.
• Contributing to the development of HS&E systems, standards, tools and techniques for use throughout the company.
• Responsible for advising managers and other staff on all aspects of Health and safety in relation to the railway industry.
• Giving health and safety briefings to construction workers at various Construction sites on the London Underground
• Evaluating current and pending legislation and outlining the significance for management policy.
• Training and mentoring newly qualified safety officers.
• Responsible for the legal affairs of the company.
• Drafting legal documents and assisting with legal representation
Having completed the Post- Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management with a distinction, I completed my M.Sc with a Merit at the Loughborough University in Leicester, UK
