• Provide critical geopolitical analysis to the senior leadership team at Mercy Corps on regional dynamics in the Gulf as well as Gulf influence in Mercy Corps areas of operations particularly in Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and the Sahel.
• Successfully raised $2.5M worth of grants from major institutional donors in the Gulf in 2019.
• Developed Mercy Corps' partnerships in the Gulf region by developing projects and programme proposals with Mercy Corps country and regional teams in areas such as Health, Education, Economic Development and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.
• Manage all Gulf donor relations and build and maintain relationships with a network of local government officials, foundations, Think- Tanks, civil society organisation, academics and the private sector.
-Published substantive policy papers on selected security and conflict-related issues in North Africa and the Sahel and presented research findings in numerous forums, including at the side-lines of the UN review conference for the Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons.
-Research focus on measuring and monitoring armed violence including conflict casualties and the tracking and recording of weapon use.
• Coordinating and facilitated a network of 37 casualty-recording practitioners who work in armed conflict.
• Developing a research framework for discovering disaggregated information casualties in the Syrian Conflict, with a particular framework on women and children.
• Developing standards in the field of casualty recording with the network of casualty recorders with stakeholders from the WHO, ICRC and various UN agencies and practitioners from local NGOs and Red Cross chapters.
• Maintaining and exchanging information with casualty recorders in current conflicts such as Syria Afghanistan and Pakistan.
• Currently coordinating and building the Every Casualty Campaign, an international campaign which aims at instituting a new international norm on casualty recording in armed violence
• Presenting the every casualty initiative at lobbying events and international fora to State representatives and experts in conflict.
• Research into existing Humanitarian law and law of armed conflict the responsibility for measuring and monitoring violence and various other standards in International and customary law.
• Financial management of project budget.
Coordinated research and campaigning activities for over 10 countries on slums in informal settlements.
Formed partnerships with NGO and CBO who work on the campaign against forced evictions and on ECS Rights in Slums/informal settlements and discussed strategic plans and projects for campaigning against forced evictions in Africa.
Lobbied national governments and international institutions such as UN-Habitat and EBRD on issues of forced evictions caused by city renewal projects
Coordinated policy positions on access to services in slums/informal settlements, particularly with regards the lack of access of water and sanitation on women.
Worked with colleagues from sections to develop campaigning strategies on forced evictions for target/priority countries.
Developed and used practical tools for campaigning, such as e-petitions, media releases, and traditional post card action.
Project management and financial management of Amnesty’s program at the World Social Forum in addition to significant logistical administration of Amnesty’s guests.
Research and wrote investigative reports on various companies and individuals, as part of UK Financial Services Authority requirement know your client.
Conducted intuitive and creative research on high net worth individuals/companies in the gulf region using a variety of online and offline public records sources such as commercial registries and corporate database, in French English and Arabic
Managed several aid projects at CIDA. Including a project by such organizations UNICEF, WAR, CHILD for a girl’s school in Baghdad and infrastructure projects by UNDP and the World Bank.
Designed and managed a capacity building program for Iraqi civil servants including liaising with implementing partners, financial management and monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Produced daily press briefings on political developments in Sudan and surrounding countries for the entire Africa division at CIDA.
Research support for senior development officers on the humanitarian situation in Sudan and Iraq researched piece on situation of IDP's in transitional areas of Sudan, produced country briefings etc.
