Contracting as a financial & planning analyst for the Global Real Estates division
Key activities include:
- Preparation and management of 40 facility site budgets and forecasts for MENAT region ($51M annual budget)
- Monthly and quarterly management reporting
- Managing cash allocation for investment related to property in MENAT region
- Monitor operating expenses and tracking actual project spend against budgeted spend
- Leading a specific project in order to drive change to business policies in order to generate large cost savings
- Providing financial analysis to aid strategic decision making
Financial & planning analyst for the Global Procurement team, partnering with the business to provide advice and financial support
•Key activities included:
- Preparation of the financial plans, budgets and forecasts for Global Procurement
- Presenting regular performance reports and variance analysis to the senior leadership team
- Carrying out project feasibility studies and recommending whether or not projects should go ahead
- Instrumental in the successful merging of the Sourcing functions across Barclays Retail Bank, Barclays Capital and ABSA to form Global Procurement. Identified and implemented best finance practises and streamlined operations
- Activities carried out over and above my core responsibilities:
- Worked with the strategy team to help them understand Global Procurement and how it operates in relation to the rest of the bank
- Organised and hosted bi-weekly update meetings to ensure that all teams within the COO Finance area were linked in and to enable teams to leverage off each other’s work
•Placed on the “future stars” programme which recognises those that perform over and above their peers with the aim to coach them to be the future leaders of the bank.
Completed the graduate training scheme and gained my Chartered Accountancy Qualification before being promoted to assistant manager. Specialised in Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction.
• Key activities included:
- Researching and understanding key issues facing clients, drafting reports for the client setting out the issues and advising on how to mitigate them
- Carrying out financial audits individually and as part of a team
- Drafting reports to company management identifying weaknesses in the company’s systems and controls and making recommendations for their improvement
- Advising clients on the most efficient structure for their company
- Setting budgets for assignments and ensuring they were adhered to
• Activities carried out over and above my core responsibilities:
- Organised and hosted monthly tax forums for teams across the organisation to share knowledge and establish stronger networks
- Worked with a partner to adapt the real estate team’s strategy in order to grow the team’s presence in the market place
• Obtained 8 Value Awards recognising performance over and above the level of peers
• Performance recognised as exceeding that of peers as demonstrated by yearly appraisal rating within EY.
