Part of Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing and Operations aiming to drive Microsoft’s ambitious vision for Governments' adoption of the 4th industrial revolution. Partnering at a strategic level with Governments across the world through deep engagements and understanding of the national issues and strategic opportunities. Helping Governments build the programs for digital transformation, while driving large scale Microsoft technology adoption, developing the partner ecosystem, and positioning Microsoft solutions that solve the customers’ business challenges as they digitally transform. Key partnerships include the Governments of Belgium, Spain, UAE, Poland, Philippines, and Singapore.
Led the Government industry digital transformation opportunities and engagements for Microsoft in the Middle East and Africa with focus on Smart Cities. Partnering at a strategic level with Governments and Cities across the region building the programs for digital transformation, while delivering growth of Microsoft Cloud services, and positioning Microsoft Cities solutions that solve the customers’ business challenges
Primary Responsibilities:
- Engaged with key Cities across Middle East and Africa in business opportunities through industry solutions.
- Worked with Microsoft partners to build the Microsoft Cities industry solution portfolio in the region, and identifying industry leading partners for recruitment.
- Worked with industry focused sales teams at Microsoft as the industry subject matter expert in Digital Transformation for Cities
Covering a territory of 79 countries in the region; the main responsibility is to develop Microsoft Cloud business and help Governments capture the full benefits of the Cloud while working on their national priorities and strategies. Also oversees building the partner ecosystem around Microsoft’s Cloud products and bridging the feedback of customers and partners back into the product groups.
Selected Accomplishments:
Delivered triple digit growth for Microsoft Cloud business in the Public Sector in MEA highest in EMEA region. Business covered both Microsoft Public Cloud Services (e.g. Office 365 and Azure) and Private Cloud Products (e.g. Windows Server and System Center).
Owned MEA Public Sector Cloud Scorecard and drove significant results in MEA subsidiaries reaching 1st place worldwide.
Built and drove a regional competitive strategy for Microsoft in Public Sector leading to increased Market Share of Microsoft Cloud business.
Drove the National Cloud strategy and execution from Microsoft side in many countries.
Spoke in many international events across the region on the Cloud impact from the economical point of view and also on employment, innovation, entrepreneurship, encouraging R&D and attracting FDI.
Responsible for Microsoft’s commitment to the Egyptian Government. Responsibilities include fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Microsoft partners’ ecosystem, delivering on e-Government projects, building capacity in young Egyptian talent, and developing regional work assigned to Egyptian partners.
Selected Accomplishments (until 7/2010):
- Developed the model of engagement between Microsoft and the Egyptian Government.
- Signed-off with 2 Egyptian ministers (ICT and Administrative Development) the developed model of engagement.
- Designed a number of initiatives contributing to fostering innovation and promoting technology export: Microsoft Cloud Computing Center, Digital Health Initiative, CIO Academy, Mobile Applications entrepreneurship initiative, and Technology Export initiatives.
Managed multimillion dollar Services business in Egypt. This encompassed all functions required in managing the business like business planning, building strategic partnership, people management, full scorecard and financial (P&L) responsibility, budgeting, forecasting, and customer/partner Satisfaction.
The role has a direct reporting line to the Microsoft Egypt General Manager; with a dotted reporting line to the Middle East and Africa Services Director. The organization is around 25 highly skilled personnel of Services Sales, delivery of consulting and support services, business operations and finance.
Selected Accomplishments:
- Drove significant organizational development. Microsoft Services business in Egypt has become the most profitable and one of the fastest growing businesses in the region with the Services external business growth 382% over 4 years.
- Achieved one of the highest customer satisfaction results in the region.
- Put technology in place to drive major Microsoft projects in Egypt across all market sectors.
-Established highly effective internal processes and was the only department getting a Green Corp Internal Audit for Egypt in 2009.
Promoted from Senior Consultant, to Principal Consultant then Engagement Manager. Responsible on the delivery of e-Government projects to the Egyptian Government, through leading a large (100+) virtual team of consultants from Microsoft and local partners.
Selected Accomplishments:
-Delivered more than 60 e-Government Projects that played a key role in enhancing Egypt’s rank in the United Nations e-Government web readiness index from the position 162 till the 26th on the world in 5 years.
-Established the managerial processes for the e-government program and built professional relationships with customer executives and worked with them in building their e-government vision.
-Presented the Egyptian Microsoft Program to a large number of senior government officials from more than 15 countries from the middle east, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Also presented to many Microsoft executives including Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.
-Secured the largest services and licenses business to Microsoft in Egypt, and played a great role in making people’s lives easier while dealing with government offices in Egypt.
Enhanced the local partners’ skills and ability to deliver on a regional scale increasing Microsoft regional business and Egypt’s IT export.
Managed a team of local and expatriate consultants to deliver different decision support systems projects. Responsibilities included full ownership of the department business planning as well as technical and personnel management.
Selected Accomplishments:
- Established the Data Warehousing department. Creating the team and played business development role to establish awareness and generate demand for decision support systems on Oracle technology in Egypt.
-Delivered MobiNiL Data Warehouse: A multimillion million US$ project, providing an executive level information system based on the most advanced data warehousing technology. Executives and managers using the system are able to analyze information from different corporate sections simultaneously, thus correlating different indicators behavior efficiently.
- Delivered Exxon Mobil sales and Operations Planning: The system serves the analytical and reporting requirements for demand planning at ExxonMobil. The scope of the project was to automate the process of forming a sales forecast for a specific customer and providing the projected product mix in the future months. This in turn will help the supply planning.
Delivered Lotfy Mansour Sales Force Information System: The system provides an information system for all distribution activities, including salesmen, routes, distributors, etc. On the top of it, a decision support system using On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) technology is provided for top level management.
Delivered Lotfy Mansour Fleet Management System: The system provides an information system for all vehicles supporting distribution. This includes all types of expenses, contracts, efficiency, insurance, etc. The system is integrated with both the sales system and the financial system.
Delivered Al - Ezz Financial Analyzer: An On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) tool over the General ledger to assist decision making.
Head of the Office Development Group, consisting of:
6 Programmers (including 5 seniors).
2 Designers (including 1 senior).
8 Testers (including 3 seniors).

Products delivered early 1999:
1) Office Programs 3.0 ( containing major upgrade of Sakhr word processor – AlMoharrer)
2) Sakhr Multilingual Dictionary 4.0. (Arabic/ English/ French/ German/ Turkish) and its automation SDK and web site ISAPI.
3) King AbdulAziz Al Saoud 2.0.( Desktop and Web Site documentary)
4) Family Programs 3.0. (Packaging for applications in 10 CDs)
Technical responsibility for Family Programs 2.0, and Office Programs 2.0 including the programs: Sakhr Spread Sheet, Multimedia Album, Social Interface, and Units Converter.
Responsible for the Family Programs. Coordination role for development and integration of 27 programs from all the company departments. Reporting to the General Manger. Released 6 minor upgrades and special versions.
Member of Sakhr Word Processor (Ustaz 3.0 on windows 3.1) development team. Selected within group to train on Win32, MFC, and OOD&P.
