TBM Tunnelling
a) The construction of twin 8.0km long tunnels. The Downline and
Upline running tunnels will each be bored using a 9.84m diameter
cut pressure tunnel boring machine.
b) Tunnels to be launched from the portal structure at West
• Check geotechnical data and plan ahead tunnelling works to
ensure smooth tunnel progress.
• Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual
programme and productivity achieved and review weekly,
taking action where appropriate, and reporting any changes to

Roles and Responsibilities;
• Management of site activities including maintaining production of
TBM, documentation (RAMS), quality control (ITPs), and records
(diaries, emails) ensuring this information is disseminated to the
appropriate personnel and the work force.
• Manage, supervise, train and mentor the site team to enable
them to optimise their work contribution.
• Leading the delivery of tunnel/TBM and other related works in
accordance with the project programme
• Co-ordinate, monitor and manage subcontractors (Civils Works,
Tunnelling & MEP) in the performance of their works to ensure
they are completed to the Contractual requirements and Company
standards

Roles and Responsibilities;
• Act as Person in Charge for all tunnelling works on site
• Responsible for all activities on shift including the surface and
underground construction supply chain
• Prepare and review of Method Statements and ITPs
• Ensure construction practices are in line with method statements
• React to any anomalies in both excavation parameters and
surface settlements
• Responsible for identifying and resolving problems arising from
technical site issues in liaison with the Site Agent
• Inform TBM Tunnel manager of any anomalies and special
circumstances where applicable Person in charge in response to
any Emergency situation that may occur within the underground
works
• Responsible for the management of Shift Engineers; sequencing
and planning of work; creation and implementation of safe
systems of work; procurement of plant and materials; supervision
of sub-contractors; implementation of survey controls and overall
responsibility for setting out of the works

• Ensure construction practices are in line with method
statements
• Compiling baseline information for H&S reports, e.g.
incidents, lost
• Keep the sub-agent fully informed of construction progress
including any changes to the working environment

• Worked on a project of £3 million; construction of apartments,
vertical extension and refurbishment of Department of
Architecture in New-Delhi
• Dealing with contracts/contractors
• Associated paperwork/timesheets; maintain logbook on site
• Producing drawings on AutoCAD; assist CAD technician on
completion of drawings
◦ Some project management; developing plans ensuring that
project is completed on time including risk assessment
and status reporting
◦ Managing workers on site; used to supervise 20-30
workers on the site and manage their salaries
◦ Health and Safety in the workplace; used to ensure all the
health & safety activities are being carried out on the site.

energy efficient, healthy and people friendly buildings;
