• Point-of-contact of the Technical Audits by Global Engineering & Operational teams.
• Carried out a project ($1mill.) to upgrade old facility with the modern process safety standards. This included Procurement, Sourcing, Project Management and Supervision of Fabrication, Piping, Instrumentation & commissioning with Yokogawa system.
• Responsible for closing/taking-over of the Expansion Project worth $20 mill. and to absorb it into existing operations. This included update of maintenance registers, work instructions, maintenance & utilities planning etc.
• Responsible for various small need-based & improvement projects such as Extra-fine Filtration Units.
• Conducted various technical & soft-skill trainings for junior staff
Centralized Engineering & Projects Division
• Responsible for proposals, feasibility, design, documentation & execution of new & improvement projects employing Project Management tools and staying within defined constraints:
Prototype SCADA monitoring system for 1500 SHIMA (Japan) knitting machines (Payback: 3 years)
E.P.C.C. of many Gloves Dipping Plants (20 ~ 80-meter production lines)
Up-gradation of existing manually-controlled Dipping plants to pneumatic & PLC-based controls.
Modified Power & Electronics system of SHIMA (Japan) knitting machines (potential savings PKR 112 mill. per year). Also, setup an Electronics Lab to cater for such projects.
Installation of Storage silos & tanks with special provisions such as on-line agitation
Designed Solar Thermal System for Dyeing application
• Prepared Project & Technical Documentation such as Job Packages, Control Narratives, Layouts & Schematics, RFQs, BOQs, Project Cost & Schedule Reports.
• Performed Selection of Components, Vendors and Suppliers. Initiated Vendor Development Program which involved Technical Pre-Qualification, Policy Standardization & Training.
• Supervised on-site Installation & Commissioning works.
• Conducted Training Sessions on both technical & soft skills e.g. “Envisaging Automation”
• Performed monthly Site Improvement Surveys addressing H.S.E., Energy Conservation, Worker & Material Ergonomics etc.

SABIC Plastics Application & Development Center (SPADC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
• Setup Maintenance team for a variety of industrial machines focusing technically (instrumentation, mechanical & electrical)
• As SPADC is a material testing facility (plastics & rubbers), the assigned assets include a diverse variety of industrial machinery from various vendors i.e. Krauss Maffei, Husky, Battenfeld, Sidel, Bekum, W&P, Kobelco, Kiefel, Polyrima to name some and for different applications such as:
Injection Molding (PET, PP etc.)
Extrusion (Sheet, HDPE Film, Pipe, PE, Profile etc.)
Compounding (PE, PP, TPE)
Blow Molding
Part Testing Equipment (Press, Drop Impact, Pressure Tanks, Shaker etc)
Mixers (PVC, PP, PE)
• Lead a team of technicians to setup maintenance plans and carry out activities. This includes on-site technical support & supervision as well as hands-on activities when required;
• Ensured the SABIC HSE standards known as SHEM gets observed and implemented in all activities
• Working closely with OEM Service Engineers to support in startup & service activities and to get OEM trainings
• Constant Correspondence with the senior management to present and analyze site status & strategies
• SPADC was a new Petrochemical facility so is the implementation of a dedicated Maintenance team for its core assets i.e. Industrial Machinery. Being the leader of the team/project, I was involved in handling following challenges to:
Evaluate team’s goals and define operations’ KPIs accordingly
Quickly develop and impart technical proficiency about the assets through documentation and training
Communications with the machinery’s vendors for future technical support
Build a team of technicians relevant to the assets/machinery to be maintained
Establish Preventive Maintenance Plans and transfer the same to SABIC format
Take ownership of all the documentation & create Document Control in compliance with ISO-17025
Manage Spare Parts, tools and inventory
Develop departmental SOPs for administrative activities such as purchasing, invoicing, approvals, timesheets etc.
Field Services Department (Middle East Region)
• Acquired training at company’s regionals HQs i.e. in Luxembourg and Shanghai.
• One of the 2 engineers dedicated for Pakistani customers. Also supported other EMEA customers.
