Work performed for L-3 Vertex Aerospace at Kandahar Airfield (KAF), Bagram, and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Shank.
Perform unscheduled, 200, and 400 hour phase maintenance on CH-47D Chinooks.
Work with aviation mechanics to receive and dissemble incoming aircrafts. Help to remove large component items like rotor blades, engines and transmissions.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, and components, using precision test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Terminate wires into various contact pins and terminal lugs using applicable crimping tools.
Insert and extract contact pins to/from various connectors.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, relays, or other components.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Inspect electrical wiring and connectors for security, evidence of chafing, proper support, and condition of insulation. Inspect terminal boards for condition and proper installation of covers. Inspect circuit breakers for corrosion, arcing/burning.
Inspect support structure for cracks and loose or missing hardware
Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, milliohmmeters, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Perform operational checks on Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), Altimeters and speed indicators, Interphone communication systems, AC & DC power systems, Pitot tubes and Advance Flight Control Systems, Engine and transmission chip detectors.
Live and work in a potentially hostile environment for an extended period.
Occasionally travel to and between remote locations in austere environments.
Respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
Stay abreast of OHSA standards and work in a safety conscious manner.
Work while being exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft, fumes or airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards. Work near or around moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
Operate ground support equipment like power carts and Aircraft Ground Power Units (AGPUs) and 10K Forklifts as required.
Work performed at US Army post Fort Campbell, KY.
Modify and/or install electrical systems on CH-47 Chinooks, UH-60 Blackhawks, and AH-64 Apaches with CMWS, CEFS, Air Warrior, ESSS, and other MWO and MRO requests.
Skills: Wire bundle assembly, Wire bundle installaion, Wire splicing, Read Schematics/BOM's/Drawings, Wire terminations.
Work performed at US Army base Fort Campbell, KY.
Troubleshoot, repair, and replacing aircraft avionics, electrical, and weapons systems on 28 OH-58D Kiowa Warriors.
