Draft briefing notes, press releases, bulletins, reports, newsletters and prepare any other public information material, as required and draft and translate routine correspondence and texts.
•Facilitate and accompany visits of foreign delegations, partner NGOs, donors and the media to refugee camps and facilitate VIP visits to the camp i.e. preparation of schedules including identification of refugees, briefings including preparation of conference rooms, escort when required, liaison with the authorities frequently.
•Assist with developing and implementing UNHCR’s social media strategy - conceptualize and pitch stories for UNHCR’s global website as well as draft stories on good developments in the camp to be submitted to head office and compile raw materials for UNHCR, Twitter, Facebook and UNHCR Jordan website i.e. pictures, short video, information, with maybe quotes from refugees and pictures to be submitted on a weekly basis or on a needs basis, post and send Facebook posts and tweets with assist and cooperation with Amman head office.
•Ensure that public information materials including fact sheets, information brochures, briefing materials from the branch office, etc. are available, review the current fact sheet and make suggestions for improvement, prepare presentations to facilitate briefings,
•Organize visibility events and liaise with partners, refugees and local communities on implementation.
•Assist in compilation of weekly, monthly, annual/quarterly thematic reports, situations reports etc.
•Review media daily and ensure the office is kept informed of local developments, ensure information flow with journalists i.e. reply to their requests for missions, advice on camp access procedures, liaison with the authorities - external relations officers, liaison with head office and reply to other queries, as appropriate.
•Be the focal point for donor visibility and UNHCR visibility in the camp (assess needs including donor missions, assist with the placement of visibility banners/stickers/boards, etc., provide specific inputs to Amman head office on donor visibility in the form of pictures, stories, Facebook posts or tweets.
•Lead on the development and implementation of annual or semi-annual communications plan, working closely with project director and other agencies to meet UNHCR’s global external communications and advocacy goals.
•Production and distribution of UNHCR external communications materials, ensuring high levels of accuracy and quality maintained and approvals processes followed as well as Identify and follow through on opportunities to raise UNHCR work through events and other activities, in particular the placement of news and stories in international and regional media, web and other outlets.
•Support UNHCR senior management in implementing the communication strategies by providing support and/or supervision as required that all communication activities are effectively monitored and evaluated, provide regular reporting on communications and external activities and achievements and support of any broadcasting activities.
•Maintain an up to date archive of all external communications outputs generated including news releases, printed materials and photos.
