Telecommunication databases are the most complex databases to be administered in today's Industry. At IPKO Telecommunication we have prepared databases for development, testing and production usage. Working closely with system administrators to set best practices environment for Oracle databases.

We have worked with 10g, 11g RAC and standalone databases. Upgraded Oracle databases to new releases namely from 10g to 11g. Implementing Backing up and restoring policies. Implementing retention policies and archiving old data.

Responsible for tuning processes/queries, creating packages, procedures and functions.

General tasks:

• Administering all database RAC 10g, 11g, from billing, prepaid, postpaid, data warehousing and application DBs
• Implementing retention policies, backups, and restore
• Tuning storage data and maintaining disk spaces.
• Creating SHELL scripts to monitor database activities, performance and availability
• Designing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) for Data warehouse, and other processing systems used for reporting and fraud
• Updating Universe at SAP systems

Work Description:
Attached in AML Project (Anti-Money Laundering), being responsible for ETL (Extract Transform Load) data into the database, build up procedures and functions to cater the needs of the Users of the AML system. Develop and implement PL/SQL stored procedures and UNIX shell scripts. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, review complex database queries and/or programs and recommend changes. Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, procedures, functions etc.

Work Description:
I was assigned various tasks during this period. The tasks range from simpler day to day tasks, printing, configuring, fixing and installing to developing, backing up and monitoring.

General tasks:

1) System observing, assurance - The ERP System developed (being developed) by the MIS Department got familiar with functionality and features of the system because I will be developing and documenting parts of the system. Therefore it was a chance to notice any bugs on the system.
2) Installing - Linux (Fedora 13, now new version is out already) and get familiar with commands, configuring new Service Pack for Windows 7, and installing Windows XP on the sales laptops.
3) Configuring - The SEAM Framework and JBoss application server to be able for developing in JAVA
4) Backing up - Staff in company had confidential and vital data that needed to be saved time to time. Hence using the ERP System we made a daily back up. Full backup is made in the first time, followed by incremental backup run on daily basis.
5) Developing - The HR Recruitment module. This was a small module that future employees will fill up and give the personal details (like a resume for prospect employees)
6) Training - employees that do not know how to use the system were trained by me. Hence considerable time was spend training sales and engineers on how to use the system.
7) Documenting - I was assigned to establish the site and compile a PDF manual for the system
