Job Role: Managing Human Resources/Personnel (Operating Subsidiaries)

HR STRATEGY
• Develop new organization structure (including reporting structure, for the restructured HHB Group going forward taking into consideration the revised Group structure and business strategies.
• Develop and insure execution of new compensation and benefits policies, including new Performance Management System, insurance policies, etc.
• Assess existing staff (numbers and job fit) against new structure, and recommend appropriate strategies, including Training Needs Analyses, etc.

HR ADMINISTRATION
• Overall management of the Human Resource (HR) functions in the Group.
• Review and revise HR and Administrative policies and procedures.
• Liaise and manages Group operating subsidiaries in developing and executing their respective HR strategies in accordance with approved Strategic Plans.
• Manage the annual PMS, promotion, bonus and salary adjustment exercise.
• Supervise the SBU’s HR Personnel on the day to day HR management activities, including recruitment and industrial relations matters.
• Oversee general welfare and health and safety matters of all staff in the Group.
• Handle recruitment of senior staff at corporate HQ as well as at operating subsidiaries.
• Manages the training needs of the Group, Manages all payroll activities of the Group, including liaison with relevant Government authorities.
• Provide guidance to Group and Directors on all Government policies affecting HR and administration.

•Administer, coordinate and interpret Berjaya Hotels & Resorts’ Human Resources policies, practice and procedures and responsible for recommending timely change in the policies and procedures
•Responsible for planning, directing and executing the activities of Human Resources Department of the Hotel
•Ensure all policies and procedures pertaining to Human Resources are followed strictly
•In charge of all administration work pertaining to the Human Resources
•Administer recruitment and selection, promotion and transfer procedures
•Maximize the skills of the associates through training and development, Work with department heads and determine training needs and be responsible for the budget needed
•Ensure proper monitoring system and records of training conducted and attendees records
•Responsible for all disciplinary actions relating to employees
•Ensure the salary and benefits package is competitive with Hotels & Resorts which we compete for labor, through salary surveys and research, recommend for salary and benefits improvements
•Maintain healthy and good working relationship between employees and Management to upkeep a good industrial and employees relation within the objective of the Company and coordinate welfare programs
•Responsible for employees’ safety, security, medical services, staff Cafeteria and sports and recreational programs
•Ensure records and reports required by Law relating to employees are maintained on a confidential basis and updated periodically
•Establish and provide a clear channel of communication between Personnel at all levels
•Process Immigration work permit for expatriates and foreign workers
•Handle all major industrial relations matters
•Maintain a sound working relationship with the various departments of the Ministry of Human Resources, Home Affairs and other Government Agencies

Spearhead, strategize and lead the Human Resource, Administration and Health Departments in all functional areas: recruitment, compensation and benefits, talent development and retention, performance management, industrial relations, administration, security, safety and healthcare initiatives with a workforce of 1, 350 in Petrochemical Manufacturing environment
Achievements:
•Spearheaded the due diligence team and develop HR transition plans, functions and responsibilities during Mergers and Acquisitions
•Drive strategic global HR initiatives, advise and coach business leaders of the company on people and organizational effectiveness issues
•Develop, implement and unify HR policies and processes through benchmarking with best in class practices in the industry
•Develop a new Titan Improving Performance System (TIPS), strategize Talent assessment and development processes that integrates into an effective succession planning design

Hexagon Holdings Bhd. is an Asian based engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning group listed on Bursa Malaysia with branches in Malaysia and offices in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, China, Pakistan and India. Hexagon provide specialist services ranging from system design, manufacturing, contracting turnkey projects to industrial consultancy for various industries including wafer fabrication, oil & gas, semiconductor, electronics and general manufacturing. As the Group HR Head my responsibilities covers the full HR functional spectrum among all eight (8) Divisions within the Hexagon Group.

My Achievements:

Arara Abadi is an Industrial Forestry company supplying raw material for its pulp and paper manufacturing mills daily at a rate of 25, 000 tons of wood and rated among the top five world's manufacturer. As OD Executive Advisor and staff strength of 50, my responsibilities includes directing and spearheading comprehensive HR functions, strategic planning and organizational development activities in line with the Group’s business and operational objectives focusing on continuous Human Performance Improvement processes.
My achievements:
• Responsible for implementing full spectrum of HR management and administration functions including managing initiatives in the areas of HR policies and procedures;
• Organization development; balance score card implementation, conducted performance and productivity improvements analyses, resulting in a review and development of a newly accepted effective performance management system;
• Human resources plan and development; improving industrial relations and negotiating with many union bodies and the organization while continuously providing development of operational skills and quality improvement programs focusing support at overall corporate business operational activities.

Dataprep is a Malaysian public listed company with more than 20 years of experience providing ICT services to the private and government sectors in Malaysia and overseas. Dataprep offers business and technology consulting, system and network integration, managed services, application service providers and e-business.
As General Manager HR & Administration of 600 employees my achievements were:
• Leading and spearheading the total HR functions and responsibilities after the acquisition of Dataprep Holdings Bhd by VXL Management Sdn Bhd.
• Plan, design and operated successfully a “web-based” integrated human resource information system hosting all Human Resource Policies, Personnel Data, Performance Management and Administrative System utilizing intranet technology devoted to enhancing effectiveness, immediate updating and improving corporate communication among employees aimed at creating feedback systems to improve overall employee motivation and commitment hence, corporate vision and objectives.
• Restructure/reorganize HR services to be more responsive and proactive towards the Group's business needs and the needs of its Human Capital (assets) and rightfully given the task of developing successfully "Employee Share Option Scheme (ESOS)".
• Build a comprehensive HR Framework incorporating the Group's Business strategies and prepare all employees by developing their skills, knowledge and confidence in facing ever greater challenges, competition and surpassing customers' expectations on cost, quality and delivery time.

Samsung Electronics Group Malaysia is the headquarters for 4 Samsung manufacturing companies in Malaysia namely: Samsung SDI (M) Bhd, Samsung Corning Sdn Bhd, Samsung Electronics Sdn Bhd and Samsung Electronics Malaysia (SEMA) Sdn Bhd. My responsibilities as Group HR Senior Manager covered a combined employee strength of 7, 000 within Malaysia and direct supporting staff of 30 people.
My accomplishments:
• Achieved: 1. Prime Minister Quality Award (PMQA) 2001 & 2. Quality Management Excellence Award (QMEA) 2001 modeled after the American Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Samsung SDI (M)
• Led several new initiatives and implementations ‘To Be The Most Desirable Employer’ and the Company’s Human Capital Scorecard Analyses
• Created and introduced appropriate interventions and establishing “The Learning Organization”; “New Samsung Recruitment Process”; “Develop and Implement New Performance Management System”.
• Spearheaded regional HR functions in Asia building HR strategies, systems, programs and HR organizations especially, personnel, planning, recruitment, job analyses, industrial & employee relations, compensation & benefits, training & education, performance management systems design and organizational development.
• Provided change interventions and improvements in strengthening the HR systems and policies within Samsung Asia electronics companies by continuously consulting, communicating and presenting HR best practices within group including, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Singapore and Malaysia.

Samsung SDI (M) Bhd is the manufacturer of colour picture and display tubes for televisions and computer monitors with total employee strength of 5, 000. My accomplishments were:
• Led and supervised twenty staff in the administration of human resources policies/procedures for five thousand employees, manpower planning, compensation & benefits, recruitment & placement, job analyses, training & education, coaching & counseling and organizational development;
• Designed and implemented of multi-tiered mentoring (buddy) programs for over 500 associates;
• Conducted training and management development to teams providing cross functional activities and resolve labour and industrial relations issues at the Manpower & Labour Department.
• Conducted compensation and benefits surveys and performed analyses comparing competitors and build retention programs.

Read-Rite was a Disk Drive Assembly company with a workforce of 2, 500 people and a HRD Section of 3 staff including myself. During the short period my accomplishments were:
• Develop, design programs, conduct train-the-trainer, perform training needs assessment, conduct domestic inquiries, conduct TQM training and coordinate ISO 9002 registration & auditing;
• Supported in many industrial relations cases among them primary defense witness in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by former employee - thorough documentation and ability to demonstrate full legal compliance and adherence to company policies resulted in favorable corporate verdict.

Sarawak Timber Development Corporation (STIDC), a state-owned company dealing in timber downstream processing industry and plywood manufacturing is the major business activity. My achievements were:
• Developed and managed plywood manufacturing and production for export from startup operations;
• Developed trained and skilled manpower supporting manufacturing operations, major contributions were successfully developed 30 skills competency training models for the plywood companies/organizations including (STIDC);
• Supervised 1000 employees (unionized) production & technical teams on quality control in production.
• Performed job analyses; beginning from log cutting, peeling veneer, drying, gluing, pressing/compressing, sizing, grading, packing, machine maintenance, boiler operations, store keeping, logistics, etc.;
• Provided management support and initiatives on new business activities and consulting. Ensured that employment offer letters, payroll status changes and other benefits forms were processed and signed in an accurate and timely manner;
• Conducted employee orientation, recruitment fairs and on-the-job training. Develop a reputation for meticulous attention to details and creative event organizer.

The Ministry of Education had 40 Polytechnics, Technical & Vocational Institutions of higher education in the Malaysian educational system. My accomplishments were mainly in:
• Developing and managing technical education programs within Polytechnics’ majoring electrical and electronics programs;
• Led and supervised the service and maintenance department;
• Written/authored three (3) textbooks: I. Engineering Technology (Form 4), II. Teknologi Elektronik (Tingkatan 4), III. Teknologi Elektronik (Tingkatan 5).
• Developed jointly with private sector partner companies in developing new and upgrading electrical & electronics programs thus ensuring graduates constantly meeting the skills requirements of labour industry.

The Ministry of Education had 40 Polytechnics, Technical & Vocational Institutions of higher education in the Malaysian educational system. My accomplishments were mainly in:
• Leading and supervising the service and maintenance team members;
• Trained machine operators, technicians and engineers in performing their "total preventive maintenance" responsibilities and activities;
• Maintained, serviced and repaired all machineries, equipment and instrument within Polytechnics, Technical & Vocational Institutions throughout Malaysia
