Design engineer at GASCO
  • Egypt - Alexandria
  • January 2012 to January 2013

2012 - 2013 Graduation project: Project title: Maximization of C2-C3 from W/D Gas Field
Company: GASCO
Location: The western desert gas complex is located south, west of
Alexandria, Egypt.
Supervised by: Prof. Dr. Hassan warda
Project description: • Existing Western desert gas complex (WDGC) is designed to process three feed gases (605 MMSCFD) from El-Obaiyed, El-
Salam and El Qasr gas fields.

• The complex produces C2/C3 gas mixture which is utilized as a
feed stock to the ethylene production plant (SIDPEC), commercial
propane, low/high vapor pressure LPG, sales gas and condensate.

• New train with max recovery and in integration with the existing
trains is required to maximized production rates

Project target: The target is to extend the plant Capacity to 900 MMSCFD

Project track: • What is GASCO and What is C2 and C3?
• The Time Plan
• Study and Understand The Existing Plant, PFD and P&ID
• Study each equipment and package in the Existing Plant
• Bottle-necking analysis of main plant equipment's and package
• Simulate the maximization Plant on HYSYS
• Design and selection of Plant main Equipment's and Packages
• to make our own programs which applies our design strategies and steps.
• To validate the results with commercial software results and Enppi actual
data.

Skills which I gained from the project: • Start any job case even with a little data.
• Think correctly in a problem.
• Organize the work with putting a time plan
• Work in a team.
• Work under stress.
• Make a very good presentation
• How to search in the right path.
Programs & software which I learned: • Power Point
• Word
• MATLAB
• MATLAB GUI
• HYSYS
• HTRI

Experience in the engineering field: • Read PFDs, P&IDs
• Design philosophy
• Excellent background in oil & gas industry
• Excellent knowledge of gas industry equipment
• Complete design of gas industry equipment
• Bottle-necking analysis of main plant equipment's and package
• Simulate the maximization Plant on HYSYS
