While fulfilling my six-month internship at MEED I composed over 20 original articles that were published online and in print. I was on the phone constantly, retrieving exclusive information on industry-related news in a variety of fields including: power and water, construction, trade and markets. I learned the trade of journalism in the sense that I showed myself capable of making contacts, doing thorough research and writing concise and well-flowing material.
I was commissioned to write two free-lance feature articles for the publication. They were printed in the magazine for the summer issue. One article was about the quality of production in China. This required that I research and interview top foreign and local officials in charge of food, toy, and car production. The second article I composed was about the status of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in China, mainly revealing the shift in CEO perspective to enable CSR as a business strategy, not just a form of charity.
