Major Function: Works closely with the Executive Producer in overseeing production elements of the program and coordinates with the News Desk Personnel for the content of the news segment of the program and takes charge in the absence of the Executive Producer.
Duties and Responsibilities: * Assists the EP (Executive Producer) in planning for the content and production elements of the program; developing and conceptualizing various methods and strategies in achieving the program's objectives; in establishing and assigning the duties and responsibilities of talents in his/her program, properly defining their authorities to make decision and making them aware of their accountability for the results of their works; in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation, teamwork among talents in the program.
* Makes appropriate decisions within authority on matters pertaining to the program and takes responsibility for the results and makes sure that all information and policies are cascaded to the staff for guidance in the effective performance of their duties.
* Provide leadership by helping maintain the right morale, teamwork, as well as motivates them to perform well; and also responsible in developing and improving the competency of talents in the program by coaching, counseling and mentoring.
* Monitors subordinate tasks, assignments and projects against their individual commitment to ensure that they are performing according to the established standard.
Technical Duties: * In close coordination with the News Desk Personnel, is responsible in deciding what news stories will be carried in the news segment of the morning show and submits this to the EP for final approval.
* Monitors both local and national broadcast news, local and national newspapers, and radio reports. Also scans the internet for breaking news and other relevant stories, effectively analyzing news and events as they impact on the current state of affairs in the regions so that this may be applied in the news segment of the morning show.
* Responsible in determining news live points, if any, both for regional news and if required, for Manila Desk. (if breaking news in the locale merits national exposure)
* Ensures that news gets to the producers/editors in time for broadcast. Also responsible for sending video materials requested by Manila Desk.
* Responsible in preparing the daily story menu and daily rundown of the day's news stories.
* Supervises segment producers to ensure that news as well as feature stories are fair, balanced and accurate.
* Together with the assigned News Desk Personnel supervises the Correspondents assigned during the graveyard shift; as well as the news VTR editors.
* Implements production timetable with the assistance of the Production Coordinator.
* In-charge of securing permits and managing locations for the program (studio and remote)
* Serves as Program Finance Officer and regularly submits financial report to the Station Administrative Officer.
